Controlled chaos at the church this AM

Envision 32 kids age 5 and under plus moms and some caregivers, all there to play and celebrate Jesus' birthday. Now imagine me coordinating it! This kind of planning is not my "domain", but I guess that goes to show how God uses us in ways that He sees fit anyway. It was a lively controlled chaos, the kids had lots of fun. They made b'day cards for Jesus, decorated (and ate) cupcakes with icing and sprinkles, then "built" a manger scene out of a sticker kit which was a huge hit - fun for the older kids who could enhance the scenes with coloring, and easy enough for a 2-year old to play with them as well. We sang some songs, played some games, and then our pastor came and read the story of the Nativity to us - he always puts on a bath robe to get comfy, which cracks u the kids. The party never got completely out of hand either, just lively a few times, and whenever the kids started on a new activity, they were marvelously content and focused.

I woke up at 3:30 this morning and never did get back to sleep. I've already told Allison *I'll* be taking a nap! Color me tired. But color me happy. Today was my last major Christmas committment (both the children's and adult choirs have finished their presentations too), so I can actually relax for a few days before we head up to MIL's next week. I'm looking forward to some down time and time with Al - we'll be making some Santa p'nut butter cookies for Mom's Morning Out tomorrow.
