I'm hoping to at least hit the treadmill for a short walk.I have a lunch planned with 2 very dear friends today.I have been looking forward to this for days. These are two people I can talk to about pretty much anything. They may not understand where I'm coming from with something or even agree but they always care. And if they don't agree they give me honesty with love and kindness. And no matter how serious or how tough a conversation we are having we always seem to have laughter in there somewhere.I feel so blessed to have friends like I do in my life. One of these ladies maried the love of her life and lost him to cancer several years ago.He had a long fight with the cancer and it was a tough time for her.She has since remarried but still struggles with the loss of the dream she had of always being with that one man.I think that speaks so much of what life is all about at times.Losing a dream and having to keep moving forward. And in the midst of happiness still knowing deep unhappiness and loss.I know the holidays are a time of many contradictions for her.I think that is true of many.
Wow, a novel from the princess this early in the morning!Whatever you're doing today hope you have a great day!!!love you all!!!

Well, today and the rest of the week are going to be wild and crazy and positivly MAD! I haven't wrapped a thing yet. Kids are home all week now. I was planning on spending Wednesday and Thursday and Friday of last week while they were still in school wrapping. Oh well. It will (or maybe won't) get done. I might be using bags this year! I also need a haircut badly. Maybe next week at the looks of my schedule! Maybe Sarah and I will go together for a mom-daughter doo.
On my schedule today...definitely a workout! The treadmill, some ab work, chest and back I think. DH picked up our Christmas cards while I was gone. We'll work on those this week. Seems like I never get them in the mail before Christmas anymore. And there is the usual cleaning, laundry and baking. Did I mention I'll be in the office every day this week (except Thursday, of course)? I better get moving!
Thankfully, no company for us. Mom and dad might drive up from Roanoke Saturday for a couple days, but might not, either.
Have a great day.
Hugs...Sassy :)
I'm not sure whether I'm supposed to be freaking out or blissfully calm. 2 1/2 days of work this week with one of the bosses out could go either way in that regard. It's the Monday before Christmas and still have no idea whether I'm staying home, having company or cooking and bringing.
Workout clothes were all laid out for an early AM workout-the only thing missing was me. I had to do a late night run to the train station to pick up DD and had trouble getting to sleep so the workout never happened this morning.
Hope you all have a good day.

I know retirement to cold and windy Maine isn't appealing to too many people, but I try every time we come back to figure out how we never have to leave there again. I really think we need to buy the Captain Lord Mansion . We had another lovely weekend that went by just too darn fast. We took long walks, shopped the shops, and really relaxed. I didn't desert the South Beach Diet entirely; as a matter of fact, the breakfast chef at the inn kind of tuned into a couple of conversations guests were having on Saturday morning, and actually altered Sunday breakfast a bit for us SBD/Atkins followers. Yup, she still made those incredible sticky buns for whomever wanted to indulge (first time in 18 visits I didn't eat a one), but prepared the ham and onion quiche entree with and without crust. And the outstanding dinner Saturday evening at the White Barn was rich in romance, flavor, and quality without much high-glycemic-index filler. I managed to eat just two spoons of the chocolate souffle dessert (aided by the fact that I burned my mouth on the first spoonful that came from a hot spot in the ramekin and couldn't pick up my water glass fast enough). My weigh-in this morning was smile-causing - I maintained from last week.
There is a workout in my future - upper body, carrying just two more little bundles of gifts and lots and lots of wrapping tonight and tomorrow. I would love to hit the treadmill at least two of the next three days. I know, an abstract goal, but there's lots to do. Oh, yes - I also need to vacuum the dust bunnies that have taken up residence. Patty, you once said that cleaning standards get lowered once the Christmas decorations have been put up. You're so right.
Have a wonderful day, everyone!

Welcome back! Sounds like a wonderful trip. I applaud your fantastic willpower and maintaining while on a trip.
I try to tell myself that Christmas decorations distract from dust, etc. At the rate I'm going, they'd better!

Still making cookies, but I managed to get all of the stocking stuffers - it's a madhouse at Walmart!!!
I wanted to go out walking this a.m., but couldn't wake up on time. Won't be able to do anything until Wed. Eating a Lean Cuisine for lunch & dinner - no time for cooking anything lately except cookies & candy. My mailman always mentions my cookies - so had to whip him up a batch of those easy Magic Cookie Bars. I love decorating the sugar cookies, but boy, those are time consuming! Still have to go buy my ham for Christmas dinner - will make that for ds and I on Christmas Eve.
I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas. Danny and I will spend Christmas Eve and Christmas morning together and then I will be by myself during the afternoon. Will have to go check out "Cold Mountain" then.
Merry Christmas,
Kat
