For some reason he gets scared when I'm taken over by "organization mode"...I think he thinks I'm going to stick him into a nice perfect fitting zip lock bag.

Of course! And when I ditched old "junk" boyfriends in the distant past, that was the best karma of all...

Seriously, I love tidying up. As much as I love all the Christmas stuff that's out and about, I love putting it away and dusting, dust-mopping and vacuuming before putting out the regular year-round decorative knick-knacks.

I don't know about good karma, but I certainly get a little breathing room. We have such a small home that tossing just about anything out is an improvement. DH doesn't really run away so much as he hides by his computer and stays really quiet. I just did a little sort and toss in the bedroom and threw out gobs of useless junk.

Maybe it is a sort of karmic cleansing to rid yourself of junk.

We're the opposite when Tim starts cleaning out the garage. I have to stick around to make sure he doesn't throw out good stuff.

Both The Cus and I go through organizational fits - never at the same time, though. I organize Li'l Al's toys, and little tins and zip-locs do the trick.

One of my resolutions last year was to reorganize all the cabinets in the house; I got about 1/3 of the kitchen cabinets done and that was it. I'll do a few more this year, and maybe totally redo our master closet, which is small - more efficient racks and shelving could really expand our storage abilities.

But yes, I always feel absolutely great whenever I do organize things. It's not visible to most people, but I know I've eliminated some frustration in our lives.

Deb,

Your post about all those people at Target buying storage containers must have too much reminded me how my DH would have bought a few more storage containers if I hadn't stopped him.

I agree, too much stuff! I have one of the smallest homes in the neighborhood (Mom was in real estate...buy the smallest in the nicer neighborhood in my head always LOL!)...It's about 2200 I think.
