1. Are you doing anything New Year's Eve day and/or night?
***I am riding on a fire engine in the Gator Bowl Parade wearing a T-shirt that looks like a very voluptuous woman in a purple thong bikini, a red straw calypso hat, and a purple lei with the La-Tea-Da's at 3:00 PM EST. Guess that shows how little pride I have as I get older. That's one of the few advantages. I don't really care what people think, whereas, when I was younger I would have been mortified to do such a crazy thing. Now, I'm laughing inside just thinking about it and can't wait. I'm getting really good at parade waving!
We had talked about going out New Year's Eve, but nothing appeals to us so far other than the usual dinner and a movie maybe.
2. Are you doing anything New Year's Day?
***I am making the traditional black-eyed peas and ham, rice, and cornbread for an early dinner, and the family is coming out here to eat and watch football on the big screen.
3. Do you have any New Year's traditions?
***The above mentioned dinner at my house. However many peas you eat is supposed to indicate how much money you will make in the coming year, so you have to really pack in those peas! ;-) I make really good cornbread, so I could make a meal off that (not exactly SBD sanctioned).
4. What book and/or magazines are you reading now?
***I got the 2003 "People" Best and Worst issue, glanced through the new "Ladies Home Journal" which had good articles about losing weight and keeping it off and getting organized. I'm getting ready to start a book called The Language Police: How Pressure Groups Restrict What Children Learn. I subscribe to "Health," "more," "Prevention," "Self," and "Shape," so new issues of those should be coming soon. I've dropped some of my other magazines.
5. What's one small thing you can do to make your life better/simpler/less stressful?
***Well, exercise regularly, if I'd do it (I am going to try again). Other than that, get rid of clutter as it happens. Put papers away or throw them away, get rid of things I'll never use again. Things like that.

We're having a gourmet picnic in front of the fire on New Year's Eve...night.
1)No, we never do. Except last year DH went to a guys only thing his cousin had which bothered me a bit.Never mind that I said it was fine with me if he went.Friends have pointed out that if I didn't mean it I shouldn't have said it.Shouldn't he be able to read my mind?????
2) Have a walk planned with sister so we'll start the NY right.
3)Yes, I whine about not doing anything NY Eve.And I fix DH a can of black eyed peas although why anyone wants to start a new year off with those is beyond me.
4)A Sandra Brown book and Fitness magazine
5)Learn to just relax and let things happen.

We're driving to Roanoke (4 hours SW). We'll pop the bubbly around 10:00 because we can't stay up that late!
2. Are you doing anything New Year's Day?
If the weather is decent, my sister and I will pound the pavement. We're all gathering at her house to open our Christmas presents and then heading to our fave chinese restaurant for a big lunch. Then we'll all head back to my sister's and stretch out on the leather sofas and watch some football.
3. Do you have any New Year's traditions?
Not a one.
4. What book and/or magazines are you reading now?
Time Magazine Person of the Year Edition - The American Soldier.
5. What's one small thing you can do to make your life better/simpler/less stressful?
Gee there are so many. But the most important would be to keep up with my home office paperwork and organization.

At the least, we'll have an early dinner at our favorite Chinese restaurant. We'll kick around heading into Boston for the First Night celebration, depending on the weather.
2. Are you doing anything New Year's Day?
Watching the USC-Michigan game. Hoping for a USC win. Probably working out. If it's nice, the local environmental agency runs a "First Day" hike at the Blue Hills Reservation, not far from our house. Several trails, various levels of intensity - we'll be on the bunny trail.
3. Do you have any New Year's traditions?
None whatsoever. I remember when it was a big deal.
4. What book and/or magazines are you reading now?
Magazines: Fitness, Boston, SI for the pro football chatter (fuels my "Patriots against the world" fervor). Book: Just started "The DaVinci Code". Wow! "Shut Up and Sing" is next - we're big Laura Ingraham fans.
5. What's one small thing you can do to make your life better/simpler/less stressful?
Better? It's pretty fine now. Simpler? It's pretty simple now, knock wood. Less stressful? Not a small thing, but find a new job that I can leave at the office at 5 pm and not have nightmares over anymore. I've tried visualization, meditation and relaxation tapes (too much chatter in my head for any of them). I've tried anger management; if I were a reclusive monk, anger management wouldn't be an issue. If a new job pans out, great. If not, at least I'm employed and this one allows DH and I a good measure of comfort in our lives; that, and weekends, makes it tolerable.
You had to sneak a thought-provoking one in there, huh? Good ones!
