I went to Germany for two weeks for Christmas - had a nice visit with the DS and DH. But didn't have internet :-(

News Flash! I am moving back to the States - leaving in two weeks. I have sooooo much to do between now and then, I don't know where to start, so I probably will not be posting much for some time. I will be back, off and on, until I get settled. Please don't forget me.....

Are you looking forward to being back in the States? It'll be neat to have you closer. I'm not sure why that should matter over the Internet. Guess it's psychological. Glad you got to spend time with your family over the holidays.

OK - Phyllis wants details.....If I remember, your DH is military - mine is not military, but we have lived and worked in overseas military communities for the past 18 years, and he has transferred about every four years.

I will be working in Peachtree City, just outside of Atlanta, GA. Never been there, never had any burning desire to go, but leapt at the opportunity to take a job where there is a chance of promotion (none in my current one). I will be working with a great bunch of people, I even know some of them - if they remember me from several years ago when we worked together. I will still be with the same organization - except the Stateside branch, rather than the overseas branch. My H will remain in Germany for the forseeable future, which is ok with both of us. I will leave Seoul on 17 January, reporting to work on the 26th - going to take a few days to get over jet lag, etc. I will have to find a place to live, a car, the whole works.

I have been trying to get something where I can concentrate on my own career since DS took off for college, and when the H went to Germany, I figured there had to be a way to make it work so I wouldn't have to just pick up and take any old job again. The way I see it is if I am going to be working for the next 20 years, I may as well try my hand at something that is not going to be dead-end and having to quit just because he gets a transfer.

Atlanta is a happening place, and from what I've heard, Peachtree City is a very nice area. Atlanta is sort of like the NYC of the South in that it's large with so many things to do -- lots of great shopping, restaurants, museums, zoo, concerts, plays, business headquarters, etc. The countryside is beautiful, and there are lots of historical homes. You'll have seasons there, but not as extreme as farther north. I do recall reading that it is the 2nd highest major city (elevation-wise) in the U.S., second only to Denver. That kind of surprised me, since I think of higher elevations being on the west coast. Guess the key word is "major" city. There is a lot of traffic there and just about everything is named Peachtree. Atlanta is about a 7-8 hr. drive from Jacksonville, but not a bad drive at all to Asheville (hint, hint).

Jappy New Year! Glad to hear you're coming back to the States and that you got to spend some quaity holiday time with your son and hubby.

Now that you'll be back here for the fall of 2004, will you think about coming to our Asheville gathering?
