Wicked Wednesday Workouts...
| Wed, 01-28-2004 - 5:40am |
And it IS a wicked day. Kids are off from school. Again. This will be day five of quality time with the darlings. Out the door and into the ice and snow they are going! I plan a nice step workout (assuming I can find the step and remove the layer of dust that has surely accummulated on it) then I'll hit the dirt for some ab work. I can't wait until I see clear pavement outside. I need fresh air and sunlight (even if it's filtered behind cloud cover). I'm feeling like Bill Bixby, turning into the Hulk, ripping off my clothes to reveal a stronger, ready-to-move me. But I also feel a new sense of purpose and peace this morning. Hmmmmm.
I'll be baking some cookies today. And some chicken for dinner. CLeaning and laundry are on the agenda. I brought some office work home with me yesterday so I'll get a jump on that and DH is going to get me up the church hill later today to pick up some more work. It was very, very icy yesterday and I wouldn't have done it myself.
Enjoying my quiet time this morning with my coffee, computer and FoF board. Hugs, girls. I'll be checking in later to see how we're all doing!

Happy on a lot of counts. Groggy as I was last night, I got a solid 6 hours of sleep; a detonating bomb wouldn't have awakened me. We awoke this morning to a dud of a storm - no snow, ice, or sleet overnight, and just a few lonesome flakes falling as we left, so no shoveling at dawn. There could still be some minor accumulation is our area, and I worry that the roads could get icy, because I didn't see too many DPW salt/sand trucks out there, but they might be waiting until the morning rush hour is over before they come out. DH cancelled his self-proclaimed vacation day and went to work.
A good night's sleep last night and uncomplicated dinner plans this evening leave me free for a good, early workout tonight. Cardio, weights, abs, and good stretching on the agenda. I'll be stronger and ignore the call of my big comfy couch.
The big box in the garage was indeed the new headboard. It's the right fabric and color (off-white twill), and there are no defects on it. We'll hook it up this weekend, and the headboard saga will be officially over. Thank you, Ballard Designs.
Lori, glad to hear your doing better and that your DH has made it into week 2 - it's not supposed to be easy, and he'll have reason to be proud for quitting.
Deb - hope you and Eric feel better, whatever it is that got the two of you. I've never eaten, or knowingly served, killer guacamole. I never thought of it as a potentially harmful treat, so I'll be more careful in handling it in the future.
Grace, Susan, and Deb on LI (where are you, Deb?) - be careful in the snow and ice.
Cussette - is the heat back on? did you make it to the store in the icy conditions? I saw pictures of SC highways up here and it didn't look pretty, even for 4WD.
Soldier on, ladies!

Hope you're taking it easy, so you'll fee better soon. I'm sure your appointments will understand that you're not feeling well.

Even thought it's only around 40 here, I won't complain until tonight. It's very sunny and the wind has died down since this morning. If the forecast hasn't changed, it's supposed to be 28 tonight, and I'm none too happy about that. I'll be covering the tender shrubs this evening before we head out for the guitar lesson. Yesterday, we had two Japanese Magnolia (Tulip)blossoms on the tree AND a passion flower open, which made my day.
I made chicken and dumplings for dinner last night and am making a New England Boiled Dinner tonight -- my two winter favorites. At least tonight's dinner will be more SBD friendly. When it gets cold, I get in a rare mood to cook.
Tim is home again today, so that limits what I can do. I'd like to do the floor in our room, but since that's out, I may just close the door and work on ones out here. Later, I'd like to get a walk in to soak up some sun.

On a good note, my energy is great, my food is clean, and my work out was good. I worked back and shoulders today and went heavy for a change, and then spent 40 minutes on the treadmill. Today I just walked and made sure my HR is in a fat burning zone.
Sun?

Baking cookies and drinking coffee sounds wonderful. I hope you had a great day!
