Simply Shivering Saturday Workouts...

Good morning. I'm so cheery and peppy this morning...warning: it's not going to last. I only got a couple hours of sleep (again) so I expect the big crash to start around 9:00 a.m. I've got to start getting some regular sleep.

Anyhoo. DH and DD are off to DD's 7:00 a.m. indoor soccer game. The temps are in the 'teens here with an added bonus of wind chill. Our house is so nice and toasty now. We replaced all of the windows and two sliding doors last year and it made such a big difference. I am so thankful that we were able to do it.

DH picked up a new dryer last night. Had to order the washer. He'll install it today. The old one had a flash fire for unknown reasons and I would never be able to trust it again. It wasn't caused by lint build up or anything that was readily evident. We're replacing the washer, too, since it is just as old and is having it's own issues! Hopefully, he'll get the new dryer up and running this morning. The laundry situation...is undescribable.

So, it's my birthday. Haven't heard a single "Happy Birthday" from my family yet. Which is unusual. It was so sweet to log on and see Happy Birthday Sassy from my girlfriends here. I should have known you all would remember. DH and the kids are making dinner tonight. I chose that over going out. It's so expensive for all of us to go out and I wanted steak and potatoes and rolls and the works. And there better be a German Choc Cake hidden somewhere in this house ;) I'm sure there is...it was part of my request.

Workouts...I'm doing mine this morning. Can't get to the weight machine because the new dryer is in the way, but I'm climbing aboard the treadmill and will also do lunges and squats today. Probably toss in ab work. Cleaning and laundry is the plan for the day.

Love you guys.

Sassy

Shivering is right!!!Went out to CL early this morning and it was like I was crying by the time I got there from the cold hitting my face and eyes.

Sassy, we have laundry stuff going on around here too.Dh is making me a laundry room here in the computer room.Right now I have my washer on the first floor, the dryer in the basement and the closets upstairs!!!It's so crazy at my house with all the stuff going on.The siding guys showed up 2 days this week. They built a snowman one day!!My house will never get done!

I'm heading for my treadmill in a few minutes.I'm trying to be an adult and accept that if I want to get these pounds off I'm going to work at it with food and exercise.Apparently the Pounds Off Fairy is not going to just show up with her magic wand and do it for me.So now I have to see how much I really want it....

Tried to talk my sister into a walk today but we're not sure if the track is clear. If I can't walk with her I may head out to the field or something today.I feel the need for fresh air today.Just wish the air was 80 degrees!!!!

Have a great day everyone!

It's funny you should mention the need for fresh air. I dreamt or was awake and day-dreaming...who knows which...that I was just standing outside, all bundled up, with my face upturned towards the sun. My eyes were closed, the wind was blowing but I could feel the rays being absorbed thru my face and eyes and spreading throughout my body to warm me in a non-temperature sense. I could feel a change come over my body and my emotions...

I'm obviously in desperate need of sunlight! Come on Spring!

2 birthday celebrations in a row! Birthday girl, your menu sounds so yummy! I love German Chocolate Cake! Did Brett have a fun time at his party last night? Hope you get some sleep tonight! You need to take a nap today - after all, it is your birthday!

No workout for me today. I'm not feeling great and have to go into work until 6 pm. AF is making me sick to my stomach with her bad cramps & I had a horrible nosebleed in the middle of the night (sinus infection). After work, I have to make a banana pudding for ds to take to a Superbowl party. Of all things, he wants me to make that! Kids!

A weightloss patch ad keeps popping up - I need that and an Aunt Flo relief patch, too.

Good Morning,

It is indeed another cold day here. The sky is blue and the sun is shining but not doing much to warm it up.

Workout is done-30 minutes 2.2 miles on the treadmill and lower body.

The lingering snow/ice/slush/dog hair/dust is playing havoc with trying to keep anything clean around here. Whatever is outside gets tracked right through the house. So I need to get that vaccum moving and would like to start tackling the laundry room. It's such a mess in there. I have to go back to the grocery store today-forgot a lot of things on my list since I forgot my list! DH and I received gift certificates from both DD's BF's for Christmas so we may just go out to eat this evening.

Otherwise, nothing much exciting on this agenda for the day.

Enjoy your day!

Hope you feel better today Kat. Have you tried a heating pad on your abdomen? I use my magnets, which really help.

Hugs,

Rhonda

It's overcast and in the low 50's here this morning. I'm hoping either the sun will come out or we'll get some rain out of these clouds. I had trouble sleeping last night too, Sassy. Actually, trouble getting to sleep after 2 AM, but once I did I slept well because I was so tired.

I worked on updating the newsletter mailing list more last night and decided to make some business cards regarding the Rep. Women's Club for myself.

Good morning, everyone!

Nancy - So glad to see your spirits have improved! Your workout sounds like your'e getting back in the swing of things. Please don't spend more than an hour a week beating yourself up because you can't or don't want to work out or because your eating habits haven't been stellar. You see the spiral of negative thoughts it can set off. Please give yourself a whole lot more credit for what you accomplish. I'm going to give you a shot of perspective here: no matter what you think, consuming a bag of chips doesn't change the fact that you are a kind, thoughtful and hard-working woman with a great family and a community of in-person and on-line friends who care about you all year round. When the winter gloom takes over, don't forget that!

There are a few lonely snowflakes meandering through the air this morning and they're picking up a few friends along the way; I hope they don't make this a real party! It's cold and a bit cloudy, and the neighbor kids are out back on the pond with their brooms and shovels (and a couple of dads) turning it into a skating rink.

I'm in a should-but-I-don't-want-to mood. I should do laundry. I should clean the bathroom. I should dust mop. I should sort the bills. But I don't want to yet, so I'm not going to. Well, maybe the bills...

The same sentiment applies to my workout. I feel ok, there's noting pressing going on here, and I should get it done early as we're heading to my sister's this afternoon. But I just don't want to.

Maybe the workout bug will strike this evening when we get home. I'll try to call up the cleaning spirits tomorrow morning, and then head to the store to buy my new Patriots balloons, a couple of stickers for the front door and windows, and supplies for cooking later in the day.

Since we polished off the chili during the championship game two weeks ago, we decided our Super Bowl meal is going to be meatloaf. Haven't made one in ages, and I can smell it cooking in my memory. Accompaniments will be mashed potatoes for DH, SBD faux-tatoes for me, and either green beans or peas for the green thingy on the plate. Maybe a salad if I remember to get everything for it. The store is such a madhouse on Super Bowl Sunday around here; it's like food shopping a few days before Thanksgiving. You're stuck in a traffic jam of shopping carts in the aisles, wondering where all these people have come from.

Have a good day, everyone!

Change of plans........

My sister called and asked if we wouldn't mind canceling our visit. My nephew is pretty sick - borderline pneumonia, temperature as high as 104 (but he's acting like his normal 4-YO mischievous self), and it appears to be bacterial so she doesn't want us to possibly catch it. He's on amoxycillin and will go back to the dr in 10 days for reevaluation, unless God forbid he has to go back before. I talked to him on the phone, in between coughing. He's so articulate and precise in his speech it's scary. He puts some adults I know to shame.

Meantime, my niece is just getting over her latest bronchitis attack (seems to be chronic with her - never a temp, but lots of lung congestion and froggy voice and cough). She's quite the saleswoman already - sold us mucho candy over the phone for a school fundraiser. My sister's exhausted (she's got her "mom's hearing" on high alert in case the little guy has problems breathing at night), so my BIL is doing the running around today. My nephew, even at 4, still loves his afternoon naps, so without the anticipation of us visiting, he'll definitely get a 2-hour one in today. And everyone will be calmer and quieter.

That means I'll call up the Exercise Spirit and hit the treadmill by 3 this afternoon. And, since it's always about the food, I've already made reservations for dinner. Not a schmancy place with proper dress requested, but just so popular that you cannot get near it after 6 pm on Fridays and Saturdays unless you wait until 9. I'd rather not.
