What a game, what a game!!!! DH is hoarse, I am hoarse, and there was significant shoe-throwing - couldn't help it. Zen left early. The funniest part is when I went to put my shoes on, I could find just one of them. I asked DH where my other shoe was and his answer was - probably in the next county!

Carolina is one scary bunch of cats. And I'm not sure where the Patriots pass defense went (except Ty Law wasn't involved in more than 2 plays all night). But their running game came back, and that's how they win close games - that and Adam Vinatieri is a lock on anything longer than 35 yards (it's the little chip kicks that he scares me on these days).

Tom Brady is now the youngest quarterback to have won 2 Super Bowls. Wouldn't it be nice to have him get the 3rd before he's 30? He's got 3 more years to accomplish that.

I'm really happy for the older players who came here after being let go by their teams and who've won their first championship. Some of them play positions where they've lasted past the usual retirement age. They're going to love riding through town in the parade Tuesday. It runs right past the street my office is on, so all I have to do is take my place at the corner up the street like last time. I'll be there, rain or shine.

Going to go back to breathing now.

Feel the love! GO PATS!!

I came here checking to see if you'd gotten your heart restarted yet! Boy, they squeaked that one out, didn't they?

I missed the national anthem and the BIG Pepsi commercial when I went to get Rob and pizza. How did Beyonce do? I thought halftime was OK, but I hate rap and cannot understand why anyone would pay to hear that stuff. I'd pay to make it go away. I know, I know, variety is the spice of life...

Tim and I were saying what a bad, boring game it was up until almost halftime, but once everyone got warmed up it really took off. I'm glad the game wasn't any longer than it was because the Carolina throwing game was red hot! Givens gave 100%!! I told Tim he was going to win it single handedly if he had to, at one point. I give them a lot of credit (both teams) for keeping their cool right down to the wire. The fans got their money's worth.

We watched bits and pieces of the game, some of Notting Hill again, and I actually colored my hair, read the first chapter of The Purpose Driven Life, and

We're still winding down. That's the kind of game we figured it was going to be - no blowouts predicted at my house. On the key Pats players - besides David Givens, how about Antowain Smith, Kevin Faulk, Deion Branch, and the inimitable, always steady Troy Brown (broken nose early, but back in the game and a clutch receiver if there ever was one - my choice for MVP), and even Daniel Graham finally making two big catches AND finally hanging on to the ball; Russ Hochstein, a rookie center who replaced an all star and who was ridiculed as a nobody by Warren Sapp earlier in the week; on defense, Willie McGinest, Richard Seymour, and Ted Washington, Tedy Bruschi playing on a bad leg, and Rodney Harrison going down with what appears to be a broken arm late in the game. Oh, yes, Adam Vinatieri - talk about clutch.

Beyonce did a great job on the National Anthem - a little too show-bizzy (you know how I feel about vocal acrobatics), but she does have a great voice. I enjoyed Aerosmith - always do (gee, where are they from?). There were too many commercials - I can't remember which Pepsi one you mean in particular, although the one with the monkey coming on to his friend's date was pretty funny. The half-time show? What an embarrassing mess. A bunch of dubious talents lip-synching. I could have gone out there all duded up and done that! The only thing I could have tolerated, if it were included, would have been Justin Timberlake singing "Cry Me a River". I went and cleaned up the kitchen from dinner after the first minute of the "show".

Did you get a load of the Cadillac the lovely and talented Mr. Brady won for being voted MVP? He's not going to able to hide in that thing for long. It'll look great on him!

Can't wait 'til Tuesday....

I missed a lot of specifics of the game and don't know many of the players, but I do recall Smith, Faulk, and especially Vinatieri. The commercial I meant was the one where Britney, Pink, and Beyonce were supposed to be gladiators and do their version of "We Will Rock You." Freddie Mercury would roll over in his grave!!

Janet Jackson was supposed to have a surprise guest, and people speculated whether it would be Michael. Instead, it appears it was her right boob! Of course, there was Justin Timberlake (a Michael wannabe), but he had been announced.

It was indeed a game! I'm not a football fan but I do enjoy a good Super Bowl game and that indeed was what it was! I only really watched the 2nd half and it certainly was exciting! I was thinking of you while watching with my younger DD and was wondering if Zen had left the building and the shoe throwing had begun and she wondered how BF and his dad were doing!

Actually I don't throw the shoes as much as bounce them off the floor. BTW, Birkenstock slides take a licking and keep on ticking. Just for future reference....

Gee, I missed all the fun! I had no idea what happened until after the game when Janet and Justin's flashdance was the top (no pun there) story. I did see the streaker. So passe! I loved the expression on Tedy Bruschi's face as the players waited for security to remove the guy from the field for the second-half kickoff.

BTW, I forgot to praise Josh Groban. He performed a pre-game tribute to the late Shuttle astronauts on the 1-yr anniversary of their passing. He has the voice of an angel. Maybe he should get the nod for the National Anthem in Jacksonville. Maybe he should be the whole halftime show. A little class instead of a lot of crass.

I thought about Josh Groban for one of the anthem singers when it's here in Jax., not that any of the powers that be would care what I think. Was also thinking what a beautiful voice Vanessa Williams has. She sang with Pavarotti and doesn't scream like Celine, Mariah, and Whitney (louder is not necessarily better!). I don't want anyone who's going to try to "maker it her own" with a gospel version, a sexy version, a painfully disrespectful version, or something like that -- just someone with a good voice who will sing it the way it was written.

Personally, I love Ted Nugent's

It was a good game once it got going. I really thought the Panthers passing game was going to pull it off there at the end. There's no shame in losing a well played Super Bowl game. It's an honor just to make that far over so many other teams. I wish the media would be more positive.
