I'm so ticked at the half-time display I just sent this to NFL, Inc. Probably won't move them to do anything different, but it's my stand and I'm stickin' to it.

=========================================================================================

Although the incident during the Super Bowl half-time show didn't phase me as much as it seems to have so many of the viewers, the continuing deterioration in the qualty and content of the half-time program does disappoint and disgust me. I've never considered myself a prude, but I guess my reaction to this one puts me in the category of "fogie". As a proud fogie, I'm sure my opinion would be totally discounted and ridiculed at MTV. No doubt the "artists" who performed would consider me out of touch and a dinosaur. Thus, I present my opinion to you.

NFL, Inc. cannot pass the buck on this one and blame MTV for the production. You bought their product and you approved it, and you should be embarrassed by what resulted. There was no attempt to present "talent" in that program. Lip-synching, gyrating, and crotch-grabbing doesn't take talent - it only takes a lack of artistic ability, class and civility. It's a display I prefer not to watch; thankfully, I had chores to attend to and, after viewing the first minute or two of the show, I decided to do them during the break so I could enjoy the rest of what was an outstanding football game, perhaps the best ever. Too bad it was tainted by the mess you allowed on the field at half-time.

The best things about the whole "non-football" part of the game were the performances by Beyonce and Josh Groban. I strongly suggest that you consider having Mr. Groban be your National Anthem singer next year, and in some way work his wonderful talent into the half-time show. You know, give the 40-and-older segment of your audience (and we're out there, believe me, and some of us are female) something to look forward to and enjoy.

You have a faithful football viewer and follower here. If I continue to watch football, both the NFL and I will be happy campers. If prefer not to have to endure a half-time program again that was so completely awful and so disrespectful of a significant part of your audience, of the hard behind-the-scenes work that goes into a successful football game, and finally the players and their coaches and ownership. They should be the stars, not a bunch of minimal talents whose can only "reach" the audience through crassness and shlock.

Yikes!! I am so naive when it comes to what is going on with kids.

I'm thinking exactly as you are - about my niece and nephew. I've heard enough horror stories up here about things happening on school buses to get me going, and neither one of them is anywhere near ready to go on a school bus. I don't think my sister and BIL will ever allow them on a school bus.

"Maybe this all fits in with The Purpose Driven Life?"

Maybe this is our purpose - how about we rename the board "Smutbusters"?

Rob said a lot of kids think it's cool to tell people they're bisexual (at that age, I want him asexual!!!) or for girls to act as though they're lesbians!!! I've heard reports in other cities of kids performing oral sex on buses and in a science classroom!
