Deb, I read both books by Frances Mayes - "Under the Tuscan Sun" and "Bella Tuscany". I love her writing style. Lilting and poetic prose. Wonderful stories.

I haven't seen the movie - don't want to spoil the mood of the book - but enjoy your evening. Absolutely serve wine - a big robust Barolo! What about dessert? Tiramisu, anyone?

Most of my friends don't drink.....but I will enjoy a glass of wine for sure (and I'm still paranoid about red wine being sipped around my new carpet LOL)!

We just got *taken away to Hawaii* through "The Big Bounce." It was fluff, but good for some laughs and had gorgeous scenery.

Congratulations to Eric and also thinking about him and the tests he has coming up.

I think your evening with girlfriends sounds so wonderful.I'm having a couple of friends down for lunch tomorrow and am so excited about it.I think I'm picking up chinese for lunch.I found something so cool. It's a cloth box like a chinese take out box.Inside it has 3 cloth "fortune cookies" with a silver necklace in each one. They each represent things like love, strength and forget the third.Anyway I thought that would be fun for a center piece and little remberance for them.

I was talking to one of my firends yesterday about the importance of women having good girlfriends.I know since I've taken more time to spend with my friends and my sisters it has been such a positive thing in my life. With my older sister especially I can vent about husbands, kids, housework , etc. She knows I love my guys and am just getting things off my chest. The other day something came up and I needed to talk with someone but no one was around. When my friend talked to me and I told her about it days later she immediately said I should have called her at ANYTIME.That kind of support is priceless. It's tha same with being able to come here and always know someone will care and understand.

I loved the book! I haven't seen the movie. The movie trailer makes it look quite different from the book. More "conflict" than was in the book. (I suppose they felt they had to add that to make it "interesting).

It sounds like a wonderful idea for an evening though. Get some nice Sangiovese to go with the dinner and enjoy! Tuscany is so beautiful. We're not that far from there. My fiance's family owns a villa named Pontecino (little bridge) at the foot of the hills on the edge of the Appenines. Reading the book reminded me of Pontecino. It really made me feel close to Alex when I was away in Minnesota - it very much retains the flavor of the country.
