Stories from Kids' Choir

This morning at church the 4-5 year old children's choir sang the opening call to worship. Allison has been reading the flyer on arrival time, rehearsal, dress code and so forth for the last week: "I have to wear my Sunday best!" she's been saying. Yesterday we picked out a winter dress that has coordinating tights and a beret. She dressed herself, only needing a little help with the tights. As she got into the car, she crossed her legs, folded her hands, cocked her head demurely and said "What do I look like, Mommy?" I answered "A fashion model!"

At Sunday, moms were swapping stories while the little boys and girls flirted with each other. Another little girl had also been sitting properly in the car and proclaimed to her mom that she was a lady. But my favorite story was from a friend of mine whose son Andrew is buddies with Allison. Andrew was looking sharp in black slacks, a white button down shirt, and striped tie. At home, his dad put a little cologne on him as a finishing touch. Andrew stood proud and remarked "The girls are going to like this!" What a hoot! Full of energy, too: when our pastor prayed for them before they went into the sanctuary, one little boy said to him "Pastor! You do good out there!" Funny, because he was praying for them.

Allison led the group out, everyone noticed her in her little hat. The kids did a wonderful job with a short song (calls to worship are short anyway), complete with hand motions. It was absolutely precious! How wonderful it is to hear little children sing praises.
