Just wondering if any of you buy things on ebay? Have you had good experiences?

Personally, I use PayPal for online purchases. We don't hold any credit cards (I know, I'm practically living in the stone age, huh?) and don't care to have any.

I've never used eBay.

Seller has no control over maximum vs. incremental. The "maximum" box for bidding serves either: you, as the bidder, choose whether to put in just $1 over what the current bid is (where you might be outbid quickly), or whether to put in the most you'd be willing to pay for, increasing your chances of surpassing the other bidder's max in one bid submission.

I used to sit at the computer putting in $8, $9, $10, $11, etc. getting outbid each time. That got old! After about the third time that happened, I read more detail on what they meant by Maximum Bid. So now I decide in advance what's the most I'd be willing to pay, and put that in. Sometimes I lowball, so I still monitor the item I'm bidding on in case I want to increase my Maximum when I'm outbid.
