Thanks all of you for your hugs, ideas and advice. Some of us here have thick-headed husbands, immediate families who drive them crazy and take advantage of them... I got lucky there, but instead I've got the parent stress. Guess none of us are completely free from the curse.

Some of you had a good point about Dan's vacation time. He and I have talked a little more about that. In thinking back, 2001 was when his dad died and he burned through most of his time off before year end. 2002 we visited AZ. Last year, we did a driving trip to NJ and extended weekend trip to Fredericksburg, the latter for a 40th anniversary reunion. Prior to that, they were visiting us more (plus we would've been traveling with all the extra baby gear). This year would be a possibility for us to visit them, though between *their* vacations in the early part of the year and Allison's beginning school in early August... I dunno if it's going to work. My folks have stated (even Dad who loves the heat of Phoenix and thinks anything under 60 is an icebox) "You don't want to come out here in the summer." We're not the only ones they've told that to. LOL! No prob, we'd already decided that. Looks like any visits out there will be Christmas or spring break, early summer before the heat sets in.

Still, us visiting my folks when we can make it doesn't really let them off the hook for being able to go around the world while removing themselves from Allison's life. I'll send the letter at some point... not before Valentine's Day, that would just seem cruel and ironic. Several of you mentioned to reread it and continue to edit, and that's what I'm doing. I'll probably shorten it up so it won't seem like a lecture, though it might be difficult without cutting some part out which would change the tone.

Thanks again. You gals are great.
