Thanks, I needed that picture, Phyllis! It's foggy and wet here this morning, but maybe we'll see the sun later. Just got back from taking Rob to school and was early, so zipped right through the traffic. I love it when that happens!
1. I'm thankful Rob got his learner's permit this week. That was something he really wanted and was a little nervous about.
2. Thankful the rain is helping bring the spring blossoms. They're just starting, but it lets me know spring can't be too far away.
3. Thankful for our study group. I notice it's helping cause an attitude adjustment for me, and I'm seeing things in a different light.
I have a Republican Women's Club meeting/lunch today and then have to zip over to headquarters to work with 2 other women to get our mailing list updated. Since I do the newsletter, I've *volunteered* to keep our membership mailing list up-to-date.
Pres. Bush is going to be at the Daytona 500 this weekend, and they were asking for volunteers to help out from our club. I'd love to do
1. Thankful that this week is almost over. It has really been a doozy.
2. Thankful that this week is almost over and next week I can hopefully get back to routine of making my workouts a priority and the heck with the rest of the world.
3. Thankful I was able to hold it together last night at Rising 9th Grader Orientation/Information Night. DH looked over at me, rolled his eyes and said, "Oh, Geeeeezzzzzz". I couldn't help it! Just the thought of "my baby" starting high school (here come the tears now) in the Fall sends me into a tizzy of emotions. By the time the third one enters High School (he's second grade now), I'll be over it and pushing him out the door, I'm sure, but this is our oldest. Where has all the time gone? He's shaving for crying out loud! And wanting to make his own decisions about what classes he's taking next year (hate that independent crap!). Actually, he has a great head on his shoulders, is an excellent student and already knows what he wants to do. He's leaning towards journalism. And foreign missionary work. The two could go hand-in-hand. He and our Pastor have long talks all the time. The Pastor says he has a huge heart for missionary work. We'll see.
Anyway...no workouts to brag about, post about, get excited about this week. In fact the pounds are creeping back on and I'm really, really cranky about it all!
Love that picture!!!!I'm sitting in one of those chairs just watching the world go by.
Are you willing to do what it takes to lose the weight?A timely question for a woman who began her day by making a rude gesture at the scales.
Thankful for getting to have lunch with my sisters today.
Workout will be treadmill today. Yesterday I did my slide then jumped on the treadmill.First I walked a mile with the incline way up.Then I took the incline down and finished with a fast paced walk. That was a great workout. But once again it was a day my weights didn't get done.I need to sit down and make some small goals to reach with my food and my weights.I'm going to work on that and my journal today.
Nice picture Phyllis. It's a balmy 9 degrees here this morning. The only thing missing from that picture is the cabana boy...sigh...
Ok, back to the real world. Yep, I have my workout planned today. Gonna catch the 5:30pm Jazzercise class tonight. Told DH I wouldn't be home until later and of course he grumbled but only because that meant he'd have to find his own supper tonight. Poor baby....
Had a nice run/trot/whatever on the treadmill last night and I'm feeling it in my knees. Probably overdid it, huh? I'm not going all that fast...only had in 2.75 miles by the end of 40 minutes which is a 14.5 minute mile. I had to give the bird a couple of turtles who were in a hurry and passed me with a nasty look on their faces. Oh well, I tried.
I caught the very end of Oprah yesterday while I was at the gym so I didn't really see much of what was going on. I love Oprah too. A lot of the men I know seem to believe that Oprah is all about male bashing, but they're men, they couldn't possibly understand...LoL.
Thankfuls:
1. I'm thankful for my commitment to exercise and fitness. I've stuck with my exercise program pretty solidly for over a year now and that's not too shabby.
Love the picture this morning while sitting in my wool sweater! Workout is done for the day- with 30 minutes on the treadmill and weights.
Thankful for the news (a day after the fact) that DS and his friend were Ok after car meeting ice and going over a divider that both were OK although the car(not his)...well that's a different story.
Thankful for the diminishing ice that has allowed Otto and I out for our evening stroll. It's always a pleasant chore and good for both of us and we've both missed it.
I'm on to my household chores before work. Enjoy your Thankful Thursday and count your blessings one by one!
Phyllis - Keep posting pictures like that one and you'll turn me into a beachgoer. Pretty!
I really started not liking Oprah over the last year - the themes of the program seemed to be very self-centered and not in a good way. The message of that program yesterday sounds like the one my family has always pushed: no matter what the challenge you're facing, God helps those who help themselves. We can put our problems in His hands, but we've gotta take a road to implementing solutions to them ourselves.
There is a workout in my future - cardio and ub and abs. I managed 20 min or cardio and about 15 min of LB weights last night, and crashed pretty quickly afterward. I simply have to go to bed earlier; I cannot live on 4-5 hrs sleep, at least not live well.
Thanksfuls:
1) It's almost Friday (that's been the biggest one lately). And it's almost Friday before a 3-day weekend.
2) The T, when it works - the highways have been a nightmare this week; I don't know how DH does a 45-mile round-trip commute every day and manages to stay calm through it.
3) Healthy food, and the sense to choose it.
4) Doggy bags.
5) Free will.
Have a productive, fulfilling, enlightening day, everyone!
Beach, relaxation... let's hear it for cabana boys, LOL!
First off, I'm glad you're feeling better and are on the upswing again. The flu sucks. Still, don't *over*do it for the next day or two. You might be feeling better, but it might give you a one-two punch of exhaustion later on today.
I tend to watch snippets of Dr. Phil more, since he's on if I exercise in the afternoon. Never been interested in Oprah, though she's so right when she said she'd pray for discipline hoping it'd magically appear. God often uses our foibles and shortcomings to strengthen us in Him. Have you ever seen, "I Asked God"?
Alex supports my exercise and eating healthy - even though he's not into it himself.
My kids are doing better in school.
It's been an entire year since Alex and I got together in Florida last January - and it's been awesome. We're definitely made for each other...
The chance to actually *use* my skills. I've sent proposals to several conferences - one is already accepted, and I'll be chairing a panel at another; I've been accepted as co-author on two books; and I've been asked to be a technical editor for another.
My wonderful man bought me a star. Really! It's in the constellation of Cassiopeia. He called it: Rubeat Flamma Divae. ('flaming red godess' or something like that... in honor of my "red" hair and fiery personality.) The dedication is going to be radioed via SETI to the star this spring! What a wonderful valentine's present for a science fiction fan like me. I got a certificate and everything. It's *SO* kewl!
Anyways - I biked and did abs today. I'm packing right now for our weekend. He's easy to pack - he's a guy. Me - I finally gave up and just emptied the lingerie drawer into my travel bag... I mean, how can I decide *NOW* what frilly piece of lacy nothing I should wear on valentines day... and then there's the issue of shoes! Uffda... It's *so* hard to decide...
