Good morning all-

I think I'll do as Rhonda has done today and get my closet cleaned out.

I was up and out the door early on my bike to the coop. We desperately needed some supplies... Then I got home and basically did next to nothing all day... UGH. Oh well. Tomorrow, as they say, is another day. Alex is out tonight - off to an Italian comedy with an Italian buddy. So, I had dinner by myself - maccaroni al chitarra, with a sauce of garlic, fresh tomatos, olives, Chianti and a little bit of prepared tomato/basil sauce. It was so yummy. And a glass of Sangiovese to go with.

I've taken over as de facto "facilitator" on our Italian flylady email list. We've been having a great time discussing recipes and healthy eating and our 5-minute projects and such... It's nice to be able to chat with other women who are either going thru the same thing or who have grown up here and have answers (like, what *do* you do with the stale bread...)

So, while I did get some activity and cleaned up the hallway nicely - including fresh flowers in a vase on the desk in the entranceway, I don't feel like I accomplished much...

And tomorrow, we're supposed to get together with "the family" to discuss Alex's dad. He's in the Casa di Cura, because he basically had a bunch of mini-strokes or something like that... Completely lost use of his legs and was pretty much out of it mentally for about a month. He's been able to walk again and able to get pretty demanding about going home lately, but he's clearly not living in the present. So, we'll have to get a 24-hour caretaker for him, and figure out how to deal with things. He's 83 now and Alex figures he could go tomorrow or last for another 10 years or more, based on family history. So they have to make some long-term plans. It's been really weighing on all of us. I've been trying to be supportive to Alex and keep his spirits up, but it's hard - I have trouble following much of the conversation in rapid-fire Bolognese-dialect Italian, and I simply never went thru any of this before. My parents both are deceased some time ago, and never went thru the long process of dying that Alex's dad is going thru - or if they did, I was off being a self-absorbed 20something and didn't realize it... My aunts and uncles bore the primary burden. So, I guess now I get to find out what I missed. Alex's family is extremely closeknit. I was always off doing whatever I was doing, and didn't spend much time with mine, so this is very different for me.

Wow - that was way more than I expected to write... Thanks for listening - those who are still reading... ;-)

Long story short - no workout today.

Hello everyone,

We are having some delightful weather here. Hovering on 50 degrees and the sun is shining. The flowers are all starting to pop up in the garden. I have some daffies and tulips coming up and just bought a couple of pots of herbs to put out on my deck.

I'm off to pick up ds from kindergarten and then I was going to come home and clean my closet this afternoon (interesting that this is on the agenda for so many of us this week!) , but giving the weather, I'm thinking perhaps I'll go outside and do some gardening. There are a lot of weeds that need pulling!

Speaking of closets, I'm in the mood to be ruthless! I've got all sorts of things that I've been hanging on to, but looking at them now, they are either way out of style (and hopefully will never return), too short or just generally wouldn't suit me anymore! Plus I've got a lot of fabric here waiting to be made up. I could really use some summer blouses and pants, but I'm not going to sew it until my closet is cleared out.

Eating has been going really well for me this week. I'm really finding that South Beach is an eating plan I can live with. On a good day, I will eat from the Phase I plan, but if I'm not feeling particularly strong, I'll follow Phase II. Slowly and surely the weight is melting off.

I managed a few days of walking last week and really find that wearing my pedometer keeps me conscious about moving!!

That's my update for now. Gotta run and get ds, but I'll try to be more active from now on.

Well, computer finally fixed! Popup blocker works wonders (Google freebie off the internet), and I also have Norton Anti-virus 2004, and AdAware (another freebie), so I should be running popup, virus & spyware free!
