Good morning-

I don't think I've ever said this but...I'm looking forward to cleaning my house today.

Hurray that you're nearing the end of the painting! That has to feel good.

I think the Janet Jackson thing has a silver lining after all. It has awakened a lot of people who are sick of the decline of our culture and are finally using their clout to make some improvements. I saw yesterday that Bubba the Love Sponge (sic!) was let go from Clear Channel Radio. He was a real blight on the airwaves, particularly with the stuff he specifically targeted at kids under 18, so it was overdue. I heard Howard Stern may be having some troubles too, and the Oscars are really screening the commercials for their broadcast because they want it to have more class. Janet Jackson was "dis-invited" to star in the story of Lena Horne, and Justin Timberlake was "dis-invited" from mc'ing (I think) some music show. It's about time he suffered some of the repercussions for his part in the stunt. Even if she was supposed to have remained somewhat covered (which I question), it was a really crass stunt.

I'm thankful for Mel Gibson's commitment and "passion" to make the movie in spite of all the odds and can't wait to see it. Thankful for good friends and family, that Erin is opening up to Rob a little more at a time, that we have freedom of speech and the opportunity to work to make a difference in our government and our culture, and a strong leader who does the right thing regardless of what's popular with the media and vocal minorities.

I'm dragging this morning from working on the RWCDF newsletter until 2 AM. I'm going back to bed until 9, then have to make a large Fandango Salad to take for after our board meeting this morning. The meeting starts at 10:30. I got invited to attend the Southern Republican Leadership Conference for 4 days in Miami, but since they're not paying my way, I won't be going. I was

I still say we need a "wildly waving" icon...

What an awesome sunrise this morning. It's worth getting up when it's still dark out to see these glorious colors. We do have robins and lots of cardinals singing this morning. I can look out my home office window and see and hear all of these things and (almost) imagine that it is NOT 27 fun-loving degrees outside! Can't wait for Spring. The snow and ice will melt away and so will these 8 pounds I've gained over the winter.

So, this morning my workout will be a run on the treadmill, abs, shoulders and back. Hoo-Rah!

No Passion movie for me yet, although my boss is going to see the 9:00 a.m. showing today. During Wednesday night prayer meeting/bible study, he pointed out that it is no accident that God is pulling all of these things together...the movie, Rick Warren's forward charge with the 40 Days of Purpose in churches and Purpose Driven Life (which is quickly rising to the number 1 best selling book of all times. Period.) I think even Janet Jackson's little stunt and the subsequent outrage following it is part of it.

Thankfuls. My number one thankful is that all of the testing with DD shows that she is a perfectly, normally, healthy average 12 year old girl...academically and emotionally. So, why is she struggling so much at school? She'll just need to work harder to achieve A's and B's. She's more like her dad...he struggled and had to work really hard in school. Fortunately, oldest DS takes after his momma and is just like a sponge. Maybe that is why it has been so hard for me to relate to DD's struggles. I feel like I have completely failed her and missed the boat. She works better one on one and will continue to do that after school. So, no learning disabilities is definitely a thankful.

Also thankful that DH's miniscus knee rip was small and easily shaved off and his recovery has been going great (when he listens to his nagging bride to get off his knee and elevate it).

Have a goo and coo day everyone!

Hugs...

Sassy :)

I could have told you that about Sara! ;-)

We must have been typing the same thing about Janet Jackson at the same time.

I was just telling Tim that I have gained 7 lbs. since Christmas!!! I am back to about where I was this time last year. I know that winter has something to do with it for me. I told him as soon as all the junk in the house is gone, it's back to the straight and narrow as much as possible for me.

I'm enjoying the sunsets too, although I'd rather sleep. We leave here at 6:30 at the latest

And now Clear Channel Comm has suspended Howard Stern's talk show. Yippee! Always disliked his show and his sliminess.

It's icy rain here, but will warm up a bit and turn to rain by this afternoon. Looking forward to a mountain getaway... if the roads remain clear from ice, which it looks right now they should just be slushy. 6-12" of snow predicted leading from the upstate of SC into the NC mountains. Gotta pack.

Not sure if I'll have time to do Body Sculpt, but I'll try.

Thankful... first and foremost, thankful for the mysterious ways in which God works, how he brings growth and focus out of situations, whether personal like what many of us are experiencing, or cultural, as so many of you have pointed out. Today's PDL chapter (which I read yesterday) had a real impact on the personal side. I'm thankful for a place to live, and warmth in that place. Food that nourishes. Family to care about. Pretty basic today, but viewed with a refreshed heart, you realize what blessings they are.

I love that line...."viewed with a refreshed heart". Isn't that what it is all about? Not so dark and mysterious...renewed light and freshness.

Hugs.

Good morning!

Saw that first robin and heard that first cardinal - brave little souls, it's still too chilly to be out in the morning without a full set of feathers! But they brought a smile to my face. And after figuring out that our cable was indeed still working, we put on the local news as they were taking a traffic break and they had a shot on the screen of the new cable-stayed bridge over the Charles River with the most gorgeous sunrise behind it - the sky was pale gray, light purple, medium blue, yellow, orange and deep red from top to bottom. The sun was so brilliant this morning that it hurt to look at it without sunglasses on.

Workout tonight - maybe cardio, maybe nothing. DH and I are taking his parents out to dinner. They need a break from being cooped up in the apartment and neither one likes to drive at night. Dinner will be healthy - Middle Eastern, hold the rice....

Thankful Thursday? Thankful for the pending arrival of Spring. That Mel already has just about made back his investment in one day on The Passion; I love seeing naysayers quieted so effectively -and we all know how the bottom line rules. That the great unwashed public sees value in the film that the elites and pundits either cannot or will not. That the outcry over grossness and crassness may finally be having an effect - Stern pulled from polluting the airwaves in 6 cities, Janet and Justin actually paying a price for their behavior (imagine!), and - dare I say it - sensible content control finding its proper place again. That Hollywood seems strangely quiet about this turning tide (waiting for Natalie Maines to break the silence!).

And for my home, my family, my friends out there and nearby, and the opportunity to lead a really good life.

Have a great one!

Isn't it great to get such a big job done? What a sense of accomplishment.

Today I'm headed to Jazzercise after work. There is a very dynamic instructor at 5:30 and I love her classes. I hear the other center is putting in a new floor just like the one at the new center. That makes me happy since the south center is 32 minutes from home and the north center is 12 minutes from home. So YAY!

Anyway, gotta round up some dust bunnies tonight. I was so stressed last night after work I just shoved them aside and made room for me on the bed with the remote. Forget it! I was to too tired!

Today will be better.
