Guess what I did

in just a matter of seconds??I broke my finger in 3 places, ripped off the nail and cut the sides.I got it caught in a feed auger today.Ended up in the emergency room.Couldn't believe it when the dr said it was broken but its just at the tip part of the finger. It's a bad sign when you hear the dr in hallway looking at your xray saying WOW!!!I had 5 stitches on the sides where I cut it and the nail had to be sewn back on.Drs inital diagnosis was"that is painful!!".Luckily dh was still home when it happened and I made it to the chicken house he was working in. At that point I almost passed out.He got me to the house and to the ER. I had a wonderful dr.Apparently the only thing that saved my finger was the nail so I was very lucky. The dr finished taking the nail off and wondered if I wanted to see just how far down I had cut before he sewed me up but I just couldn't look.My thankful for today is having all my fingers and nice drs and pain medication.

A post from you that starts this way can't be good. I'm very thankful you still have five fingers on that hand, Your Highness. I won't say be careful, because you know the rules and it sounds so trite.

Farm machinery is so dangerous. What does a feed auger do when it's not looking for royal fingers to munch?

Oh Patty! Your poor finger! You are one lucky princess to still have all your digits intact. I hope you will be more careful from now on. We like our Princess in one piece.

Oh, you poor thing, Patty!!!! That is horrible, but am SO glad you still have all of your finger. So thankful your dh was there to save you. Also thankful for the care of your good doctor. Poor baby! Get lots of rest - I wish I could come up there and wait on you hand and foot. I'd even learn how to take care of your chicks.

Hope you heal soon & you don't suffer too much pain anymore.

Hugs,

Kat

OMG I hope your finger feels better and heals quickly. Even though I was cringing reading your post you still sounded so upbeat........how do you do that? Did they send you home with some antibiotics? How long for the stitches to be in and how will that effect the growth of the nail in the future.............am I being a nosey body? Sorry! Feel better and becareful. I am glad hubby was around to help you and take you to the hospital.

Oh, Patty, I gasped and winced when I read your post!!! I can't imagine how scary and painful that must have been. I will add to my thankfuls today that it was just that and not the loss of your finger!! Take care. Now, I think you should milk that injury for all it's worth and get as much TLC from your guys as possible.

Big hugs,

Rhonda
