A bedtime question?

Here is a few silly questions. You are all busy, working ladies here and I was wondering how you all do it. I feel so exhusted at the end of my day. Now of coarse this week was different with working the three days a week but that is going to be my normal routine for a while. So my question is what time does everyone get up in the morning and how do you start your day when you get up? Do you have coffee/tea first, do you put your sweats on and "just do it", or do you eat breakfast? If there are kids involved do you make the school lunches the night before or in the morning? Then there is bedtime.........what time do you go to bed? Do you keep the routine the same everynight, do you record TV shows that are on later and watch them the next day, do you take a nap(I know that one is a joke), do you stay up later on the weekend?

I so need to come up with a daily routine that makes me happy and healthy. The same for my exercise and my eating. I am not happy with myself right now and I am fustrated. I need help but I do not know where to turn here. I have tried the Curves diet which is very similar to the SB diet and I know I will not be able to survive with everything still in my house. I can not lock myself in a closet either. I know the WW program gives me the best of both worlds but it is a slower process and you have to honest and write everything down. I guess when I realized last week that most of the dresses I put on to try were so small it really brought me down even more. I just feel lost here and feel like I am floundering. I know I sound like a broken record I just do not know what to do to be successful. I am hoping to find a routine that I can live with, but its hard.

Deb: I took your questions and added my answers after them (like Rhonda's Friday Five).

I feel so exhusted at the end of my day. I am positively exhausted at the end of each day. I don't sleep well, however. Too keyed up worrying about everything I didn't get to that day and should have, or need to get to tomorrow.

So my question is what time does everyone get up in the morning and how do you start your day when you get up? I'm up between 5:30-6:00. I start my day with a cup or two of coffee (half regular/half decaf) and hit the board first thing ;)

Do you have coffee/tea first, do you put your sweats on and "just do it", or do you eat breakfast? I put my workout clothes on so there are no excuses (usually). I might have a banana, but usually I just wait and eat after my workout.

If there are kids involved do you make the school lunches the night before or in the morning? Kids make their own lunches or they buy with their allowance.

Then there is bedtime.........what time do you go to bed? Do you keep the routine the same everynight, do you record TV shows that are on later and watch them the next day, do you take a nap(I know that one is a joke), do you stay up later on the weekend? Kids are in bed before 9. DH and I are usually in bed at 9, if possible. To read, catch a 30 minute tv show. We don't watch late shows (9:00 shows are late for us!), but then we don't watch much tv period.

I definitely recommend setting up a REGULAR routine. It's easier for EVERYONE!

Good luck. It will all come together :)

So my question is what time does everyone get up in the morning and how do you start your day when you get up? The alarm goes off at 5:15 and I try to be up by 5:30.

Do you have coffee/tea first, do you put your sweats on and "just do it", or do you eat breakfast? It's into the sweats to "just do it"that's of course when the body is willing to listen to the brain.

If there are kids involved do you make the school lunches the night before or in the morning? After working out I do make sandwiches for my oldest who's out of the house by 7AM and DH they put everything else together themselves.

Then there is bedtime.........what time do you go to bed?

I'm usually in bed between 10 and 11. But there are many nights when I'll finally sit down in the evening and attempt to watch TV and fall asleep on the couch or sit on the couch and read and next thing I know I'm asleep sitting up and attempting to read. That just frustrates me since it feels like my entire day is spent working before work, going to work and working after work and not having any time or energy to do things that I enjoy.

Do you keep the routine the same everynight, do you record TV shows that are on later and watch them the next day, do you take a nap(I know that one is a joke), do you stay up later on the weekend?

I do pretty much have the same routine every night. I will occasionally record a show that I would like to see and watch it while on the treadmill. I don't stay up later on weekends, and even if I wanted to I probably couldn't because 11PM is just past my bedtime at this stage of my life.

A routine is good especially when you're working. You need cooperation from family members-something I'm still working on almost 12 years later. It can be a challenge!

Depending on what time my first client is, I get up at 0430 or 0500.

I understand what you're saying about not being happy with yourself and being frustrated. But I have to say I felt frustrated reading your post because I don't think you give yourself enough credit.Going back to school while raising a family is incredibly hard and you did it.Then you went out and got a job in a short time. What you've accomplished in the time you've been posting with us is so incredible.I think it may take awhile for you to find the routine that works for you.And there will be days nothing will work! And I think as you get further into your job and gain more confidence in yourself and your abilities other things will fall into place.Sometimes I think we can work too hard at fitness and diet.Sometimes you have to let it go and relax a bit.Look at what you've already accomplished and realize anything is possible.

Good luck this week, hope it goes well!!!!

When I worked, I got up at 6:15-6:30am. We showered first (me first, then DH), and while DH was in the shower, I'd fix a minimal breakfast - we don't eat big breakfasts. These days I hang out in bed until 6:45, then join DH in the dining room for breakfast. Next year when Allison is in school, I'll be getting up at 6:15 again to get her ready, and me not working yet at that point, I'll be in sweats during the morning routine.

At night we go to bed between 9:30 and 10pm. There are only a few shows we record because most TV programs don't interest us, and those shows are on the weekend anyway. And frankly, we'd rather sleep! Weekends, DH often takes a nap, and I occasionally do, though I'm not a habitual napper. We don't stay up much later on weekends, maybe 10:30 at the most, doing our TV watching mid-day after lunch or dinner. Weekends we might sleep until 7am or 8am. I tend to get up earlier than DH on weekends, probably because I don't get up right with him on weekdays.

Household stuff, when we worked, got done on certain days and both of us pitched in. Before getting pregnant, I managed to eke out 45 minutes to an hour every night to exercise. That's harder these days with a kid around, and I prefer exercising in the daytime when she's more likely to play on her own.

I worried about how my post might sound to you.I didn't mean I was truly frustrated by it but just think you've accomplished such a great thing and hope you give yourself the credit you deserve.Hope that sounds better!
