I am so pi**ed off that my body won't tolerate Jazzercise anymore. Now that might not seem to be a big deal to anyone here, but fer crying out loud. I went steadily for a year and a half and I'm terrified that I won't be able to maintain the progress that I've made without going to class. Am I doomed to be either musle-achy and joint-achy for the rest of my life or will it be a flabulous life? Can you say mid-life crisis anyone?

I know what I need to do. I need to find something to replace Jazzercise that makes me feel good and doesn't hurt. I've reviewed a dozen new videos this weekend and I'm not that impressed. It just seems like nothing will measure up. Am I crazy? I'm going through withdrawl! ACK!!!!

And I got some more results from the doc today. My cholesterol is up...205 and he's not concerned about it but it irritates me. I've always been right around 180-190. So if I let up on the exercise now, will my cholesterol get worse?

This is starting to feel like I'm living in a soap opera....

Grrrrr

Poor you! There's some Irish Creme in that mug o' coffee in the icon. If that's not your thing, here:

I've got a continuing aching hip muscle that didn't go away *after* two months of not running. The center of the pain has shifted, so I know it's not "status quo" (I think it's in a spot now where it eventually will work itself out, but that could take months more). But I've also had a number of aches off and on that changing activities to lesser impact activities for two weeks - or 1-2 weeks of total rest - helped me get over. The times that I rested just about killed me. I felt like I was going to undo months' worth of progress but not doing what I loved to do. But yanno... it didn't. Once I restarted, I was back up to where I left off in very little time, without the aches.

Your cholesterol could get worse if you took a 2-week break, though I doubt it'd shoot up in two weeks. Then again, you might have the type of cholesterol that exercise doesn't make much of an impact one way or another.

I actually attend a yoga class once or twice a week and I practice Kundalini yoga at home. Mediation, lots of postures and sweat involved. So yeah, I guess so. I have several yoga videos as well. And I picked up a couple Pilates tapes and a ball workout video.

I'm sorry you all. I'm just feeling sorry for myself today. I have the it's monday, Aunt Flo is a b**ch and I'm cranky blues.

Thanks Deb & Linda.

I hate to hear you have to give up something you love.Any chance a supplement like that Glucosomething that is used for joint pain might help?Could you talk to your dr about trying it?Also what if you cut your classes back to one or two a week and planned it so you could come home and soak in the tub right away.Maybe that would help with the pain.Don't give up yet, talk with your dr and see what your options are.Is there anything else that has caught your interest exercisewise?

As for the cholesterol,I've added olive oil to my diet and had some good results.Maybe that could help balance out less exercise.

Lol...yeah, I take the Glucosamine every day and it does help...but not enough. Yes, I cut back to 3 classes a week immediately followed by a long hot shower (we don't have a tub).

ARGH! I'm going to drive myself and everyone else crazy with all this crap!

I feel for you, Lori. See my reply to Susan. Pilates is a great form of exercise. I just haven't felt like doing it or anything else other than yard work.

Lori I am so sorry you are going through this. Do you have a YMCA around you? Maybe some sort of water arobics? Swimming is great exercise. Another form of exercise is horse back riding. These guys and gals I see at the stable work up a mean sweat. Hugs to you either way.

Found out that my daughter started Kundalini yoga a couple of weeks ago. She's a little bored with it, because she's so used to really active, sweat producing workouts, but she's doing this for stress relief instead of exercise. She may try Ashtanga next.

This probably won't interest you a lot if you're used to jazzersize and running but could you try 'power walking' or 'race walking'?
