Good visit with the Doc....

I really like her. She's an internal meds doc, but "does it all". I'm thinking of ditching my fave OB/GYN (Peter) who's been with me thru all of my baby-making and delivering for this Doctor.

She knew EXACTLY what I was talking about. Finished my sentences for me. She's young, but...she's a woman! Not to say that men don't know, but I just really felt like she could sympathize with me. Peter would have just nodded and handed me a script for drugs (there IS something to be said for that, too ;) I know that some of you ladies adore your male docs...I really do adore Peter, and will keep him in my book.

So, she asked if I had ever taken anything for anxiety. I have, after I stopped nursing Brett my hormones went wacky and I was a bit anxious and stressed, but nothing like these days. She didn't like what I had been taking before (that Peter had prescribed). Xenex. Never knew it was habit forming. She said the new seretonin drugs are much better and I can start and stop them at will, but keep in mind that it takes 5 days or so for it to really take hold. She suggested I take them for 3 weeks before my period starts and then stop the week of my period, which really is an okay time for me. We'll see. She didn't have any samples, but gave me a prescription. I'll get it filled this week. She assured me side effects were rare and consisted of light nausea and maybe slight anxiety the first couple of days I take them. She wants me to take them at night as they should help me sleep a little better (have heard that about seratonin). So, we'll see. I'm not a big drug taker. Hate it actually and tend to "forget" about them.

But I felt better just talking with her about it and knowing that she has a large number of patients that have truly been helped with these drugs. I'll be on a real low dose...10mg.

Had to apologize to all my children today for my raging moments this morning. Oldest (who is on my LIST in a big way these days) gave me a hug and kiss. He was just sucking up.

Still taking lots of deep breaths today!

Sassy

That is so good that you have a female doctor who really listened and understood. Doctors like that are hard to find.

I do hope what she suggested helps you and you can get through those hard times a little easier. I would think your sinuses and the headaches it can cause didn't help either.

You do sound better already...there is hope or as they say...light at the end of the tunnel. Good luck with the Rx...I am sending the no side effects fairy along.

Glad you had a good visit with the Doctor. It's great when you can talk to someone and they can really understand what you're saying. Hope that the medication helps you out and brings you relief.

Good luck with your meds, Sassy! I hope you feel better soon. It's great you have a female doctor. I visit my new female OB/GYN later this month. I was going to ask for the medications you take during the rough cycle days, too (something like Zoloft). Hope my new doctor has samples. However, I may not need them as I have felt really well this past month. AF is here now, and for some reason she is being nice. Last week was a good week for me, too! I think changing bc pill prescriptions helped me. Or could it be the added soy? I eat alot of soy & I eat cereal w/flax & those Omega's. Or maybe it was having a weekend off! LOL!

Get lots of rest, girlie! My ds is on my LIST, too! Last night he said he didn't have homework - this a.m. he's hurriedly scratching out his science worksheet in the car. I just rolled my eyes. As long as he brings mostly A's and maybe a couple of B's I put up with it (although he's capable of more!).

I have to keep my meds in a purse on my nightstand along with a bottle of water. Otherwise, I forget to take them. I don't have a medicine chest in my bathroom, so that was the handiest place.

Happy to hear you're on the road to relief and that you like your new dr. so much. That is so very important! Hope it's the right Rx on the first try and you don't have any side effects.

By the way, what did you decide to do about the guitar? Seems a shame not to use your talent. Go for it even if you don't commit to church right away.

Sounds like the appointment went very well.It is fantastic to find a Dr you like and that understands.Get the RX filled and rememebr to take it :)

I love that you apologized to your kids. That may seem like a simple thing but sad to think how many parents wouldn't take the time to do that.Your kids got to see that you were human and then they saw how much you love them and respect them.Lucky kids!!!

Love ya, Sassy.Hope you feel better soon.I have heard of several people with sinus infections lately and they have been really bad.Take care.

My oldest DH is like that, too. He broke the news to us the night before last that he's bringing home a D+ in English. I'm still not speaking with him. His butt is grounded AND, even worse, I'm going to be in touch with his teachers EVERY week checking up on him. That'll teach him ;)

My cycle has been the same, Kat. Some months okay, some months, like this cycle, REALLY, REALLY bad. It's hard to describe the feelings...anxious all the time, is probably the bottom line. I'm going to go ahead and get the prescription filled today and start taking it now and stay on it thru my next cycle and see how it goes.

Sassy :)

I haven't gotten the guitar yet. No real reason other than it's way out of my area of routine driving during the weekend and would be a "weekend" purchase! Maybe this weekend. Haven't decided yet. Have had really bad stage fright the last 6 months...wondering if it's been related to all of this stuff going on....

I should have known you would remember that...since you have a guitar-playing man in your house!
