Scary stuff but good info.I am always amazed at the people who will take medicine, especially over the counter things, and have no idea of what is really in it.

Amazing, isn't it? The whole situation would be greatly improved if the medical community would

Bingo, Rhonda. I wholly agree that things need to be in layman's terms, but that people need to get involved and not expect to be spoonfed at every turn. Why is the govt always looked upon as the solution? Heck, govt mandates contributed to this by forcing the medical community to divulge *every* detail in an effort to educate consumers - which has caused more confusion than it stemmed. I'm pretty darned literate, and patient information sheets get way too scientific for me, and even over-the-counter stuff the print would go above the 8th grade education level of this country. Plus, the print is so small that I can barely read it. On the other hand, I'll ask questions until the doc tells me to shut up - and I haven't had one tell me that yet!

I don't know what the solution is. The medical community has got to get down on the patient's level *together* rather than treating us like we've had 2-3 years of medical school behind us, but the govt solutions usually make things more complicated, not less - sorta like tax laws!
