We ate lunch and dh and I laid on the blanket in the sun having a great conversation while the boys had a blast playing in this tree that you could walk through. The smell of the flowers blooming was just exquisite. Then we headed off to the playground part of the park and hung out for a bit. When the kids tired of that, we headed off to the Children's Farm, which is a petting zoo. Our oldest, Adam, fell in love with the baby goats. They are only a few weeks old and the kids are encouraged to touch them and brush them. He didn't want to leave. There were about 4 other goats there ready to give birth any day, so we may return in a couple of weeks. From there we went to Clover Point which is a jetty that goes out into the ocean and we tried to get our kite airborne. Didn't have much success, but lots of fun. Then we took a stroll along the beach and collected yellow and peach coloured rocks for mommy!! Too much fun! I didn't want to leave. Dh and I agreed that this is going to be a beach year for us! The kid's are in heaven there.
And....I have my first sunburn of the year! Tomorrow, we are going back for more! The heck with housework! It will always be here! :)
Roast leg of lamb and garlic mashed potatoes for dinner. A nice glass of Beaujolais! Does it get any better?

I'm with you! Enjoy it while you can. Sounds as though you had a wonderful time today. Tim and I took the Yorkies to the beach today, and they had a ball. They made people and canine friends, played in the water, and chased the birds. We walked quite a ways, so I carried Winston a few times on the way back. They were a mess with sand and salt water in their long hair. I bathed both of them, then scrubbed the tub, and scrubbed myself so I didn't smell like "wet dog."
They are pooped tonight!!
The water was so gorgeous, if I hadn't known better I'd have thought I was in Miami or the Keys. I could see through it, and it was the prettiest shade of blue-green, plus almost no surf again. I'm sure that's why it was so clear. I found 76 sharks' teeth yesterday and even found 33 today while being dragged by a dog. Tim was saying we could have the first Yorkie Iditarod!! Good thing they aren't bigger. The water temperature is up, so it was killing me not to have on my bathing suit and have my boogie board with me to just float over the swells and to swim. It was perfect for that. Also, a good day for sailboats and surf kyaking. The beach was packed.
We went to dinner at Ruby Tuesday's tonight, browsed around the mall, and got Rob some jeans shorts while they were having a great sale at Belk's.
Hope everyone is having a wonderful Easter weekend.

I really do love living near the ocean and was wondering yesterday if the people with oceanfront homes ever take it for granted. I don't think I would. Rob and I went today for a while, and as I was walking on the beach thinking I should probably be in church, it dawned on me that I often feel closer to God at the ocean, in the forest, or on a mountain than in a church. After all, man creates churches and God creates nature. I do a lot of heavy thinking when I'm walking on the beach, and I made a real effort today to focus on God and my life, since it is Easter.
Erin had told Rob she was going to be in town today to go to church where she used to just south of us and to spend the day with her father's family. I debated about showing up at the church service, wondering if that was a subtle hint or subconscious effort for us to come, but then I didn't. If she'd wanted us to be there, she might have said so. If she's not ready for us to come face-to-face, I don't want to make things worse. It's so hard to know what to do.

I don't really hear about many shark sightings at Ponte Vedra where all the teeth are, but there've been a couple of attacks over the last few years where we usually go in St. Augustine, and I've never found a tooth there. These teeth are almost always totally black, and I'm told it means they're millions of years old. I don't know about millions, but sharks' teeth are usually white when they're new. I think a lot of these are actually buried in the coquina on the beach, and the tide uncovers them as much as washes new ones ashore.
