Our Easter weekend!

I hope everyone had an abundantly blessed Easter weekend! We sure did, and it was pleasantly busy. My dear MIL came in on Thursday, to the absolute delight of Allison. The Cus had Friday off, and it was a lovely day to go to the zoo and gardens here. Man, was it crowded! It was a like a Saturday. A lot of people must've taken the day off! After that, we went out to that wonderful Italian restaurant nearby and enjoyed an early dinner. We all sacked out for a nap upon coming home, something I rarely do. Saturday we went to a local car show with classics and street rods on display. This show's been going on for four years, and we've gone all four years. The Cus and I like the classics, from the 30s through the late 60s, and there were plenty of cars from those decades there to admire. After lunch, Dan and I went to see "The Passion of the Christ" while Allison was at a friend's house and MIL stayed home to relax (she'd already seen it). What a moving film - reading about Christ's suffering and crucifixion in the Bible is often just reading, seeing it reenacted in a church brings it to life, but the film really brought it home the burden He bore for us plus made it seem as if you were there. We brought handkerchiefs and they got used - it was a smaller daytime matinee crowd, but I could hear sniffles throughout the theater.

On Easter I got an earlier start, since the choir was singing for both the early and late services. The Cus, Allison and MIL attended the early service, which was about as packed as the 11am service normally is; the 11am service was standing-room-only. Dan and I had purchased an Easter lily through the church in memory of FIL, so MIL gets to take that home with her - she usually gets one at her church in his memory, and we wanted to do that for her since she was spending Easter with us. Back at home, we hid Easter eggs for Allison to hunt, and I made a ham dinner with Boston Cream Pie for dessert. Yum! Haven't had that for years! While the ham was cooking, MIL and I watched "The Aristocats" with Allison - she got the movie in her Easter basket. Never did get around to dying eggs prior to Easter... probably like last year we'll do it this week! Pathetic, huh?

I managed to get a run in on Thursday and yesterday to offset all the Easter goodies! Back to normal for a few days before hitting the road for a mini-vacation.

Your Easter sounded very nice. And no, it is not pathetic to dye eggs after Easter - I still want to dye some more! We're very busy ladies & we do things when we can! I bet Allison had a fantastic time!

I don't know what to think about that scene in "The Passion of Christ"! I kind of agree with you about the mockery of the virgin birth by Satan. That scene DID gross me out, though! BTW, I had no idea how different Roman Catholic beliefs are than Protestant until I read some things recently.
