Long day at the beach, so I'm a bit late

Sounds like a really pleasant day Rhonda and you were busy.

I had a good day too! Lazed around a bit this morning, then got my behind in gear. Put all of the laundry away from the last batch, washed up the breakfast dishes, then headed out to the nursery. Came home with enough plants to fill my window boxes on the deck and the two hanging baskets with some to spare. Then I headed into the backyard, weeded the beds and planted the two shrubs I'd purchased. After that, I turned over all the soil in the veggy plots and planted them! I'm done. The only thing left is to put a few plants down the front walk and some regular weeding maintenance. Feels good to be done.

I'm a bit stiff and sore even after my hot shower, so I'm thinking I'll probably be much more tomorrow.

Of course I came in to find that dd had left me a sink full of pots and pans from something she'd made. She's gone off to the beach. I'm not impressed!

Eating has been awesome today. A southwestern omelette for breakfast and cottage cheese and fresh fruit salad that dh made me for lunch. This is my last day of SBD phase 1 and I wouldn't normally have had the fruit, but I thought it was very sweet of him. Planning on some homemade chicken soup and probably a salad with leftover roast chicken for dinner. I'm curious to see what the scale says in the morning!

I haven't done much besides work and get groceries.I had hoped to get a walk in or some weights but no time. The closest I got to fitness today was going online to order a new pair of running shorts and a workout top with built in bra.Getting that on and off should be interesting.

You had a good day too. What kind of flowers did you plant?

That's why it's called a "workout" bra!

I'm tired from spring cleaning but barely made a dent! My spring cleaning will stretch into summer! The comforter came out well so I will wash mine maybe next weekend! Went to the library and grocery store (again!) and bought some fresh CA strawberries, fresh salad fixings, feta cheese, chicken & stir fry veggies & other stuff along with those papertowels. I then discovered I had stockpiled a roll in the cabinet (good grief!).

All of the bestsellers were checked out except for "The Princes of Ireland" - I may not like it, but I'll start it anyway. I'm always game for a novel with history in it.

I can't believe that beginning next Sat. I can go to the fitness club!!! So excited! Probably won't get to go until Mon. morning as I have to work at Dillard's all weekend, but woohoo, I will get to hit their walking track or treadmills at 5 a.m.!

Watched the reruns of Trading Spaces Home Free - I'm tellin' ya', the rooms somehow come out better when the designers don't get their way all the time!!!

Well, I bought three very cool black wrought iron baskets that go on my deck rails. They have a brown, straw/moss liner thingy in them. I wanted something with some fragrance and wasn't really sure about what colour-wise. Last year I had really strong, intense colours, so this year I went a little bit different. They are filled with a couple of red and hot pink verbena, pure yellow mariogolds, soft pink petunia, some schizanthus (somewhere in the red, pink, white range)lime green nicotina, and blue/purple lobeilia. I also threw in a few zinnias for height and the hanging baskets have some purple and mauve petunias and some nasturtiums in them.

The shrubs are commonly called "fire bush". I don't remember what the real name is, but they are everygreen and in the spring turn an intense burnt red colour.

Our deck can get hot on the bare feet, so I'm seriously thinking of picking up a hunk of canvas and painting a big floral floor mat in creams, pinks, yellows and reds, with a touch of purple!

The mixture of colors, textures, and heights sounds very striking! Bet as they grow it will be really pretty. Love the canvas

Didn't do my planned workout - ended up being (1) too busy, and (2) too tired. Church in the morning. Came home to cook dinner. All 3 of us sacked out for a nap - a long one for me. Then had to make appetizers for the Children's Choir presentation last night, and then on to the church. We didn't get back until around 8pm.

Ah well - guess I just got my rest day in early!
