Your description sounds reasonable. Thirty-three was probably my best year, even though I'd had one child, because I worked out with weights religiously 3X a week and still had a metabolism.

Sorry so late in adding my 2 cents worth. I think this was an excellent post......kind of a follow up to my questions about wishes. I must admitt I am truely impressed by all your responces because they were all honest. Very important, honesty. I want is all too! I am fortunate that so far I have my health. Full head of hair, fairly good eye sight(even though I do wear glasses for reading), normal cholestrol and blood pressure. But I do not feel as healthy as I should. Being short has been a problem area, and having my grandmothers genes plays a huge roll there. She was my height and I think she was about 175 when she passed. I look in the mirror and I see her, and I do not want this to happen. No disrespect intended, I love her so much but...........! I am also the oldest of 3 girls and both my sisters are much taller then I am and they are skinny too. Their metabolism is unreal. Why did mine leave? Where and when did it go away? I want it back! I want to loose these pounds, tuck my shirt into my shorts, wear a bathing suit and look nice, feel sexy! Yes I said it feel sexy. At this point in my life I feel very unsexy and that is a sad place to be. For me at least. I want others to say WOW she does not look 43! Someone used the word vain and its true. I am not looking to be twiggy, never was but I want to look good and feel just as good.

That’s a great question! My reasons for slimming down (with diet and exercise) are about having more choices and comfort in life. I feel that a slimmer me will be more comfortable and confident doing even the “simplest” thing like getting dressed. Can’t tell you how many hours it takes before I find something that doesn’t make me look even larger. Having a choice of fun activities like able to play tennis or even lugging my golf bag around instead of extra weight would also be good. Plus I’d really like to be in a little better shape before my doctor takes my blood pressure with the usual voiced concerns.

Without reading other posts yet (I might not be as detailed), I started this to lose a few pounds. But once I got into it, I realized that my chief goal was to start and *maintain* a healthier lifestyle through physical activity. We already do plenty of lower fat dishes here and generally don't overindulge in our eating, so I knew that I had to add exercise to accomplish anything. In both working out and in reading, I saw just how much good physical activity does, even if you don't lose weight or trim inches.

What I *don't* want as I age is to have countless medications for various weight-related issues that could've been lessened or prevented through regular exercise. Both my parents have or have had high cholesterol, high blood pressure, arthritis - and are/were overweight. My dad has lost excess pounds and no longer needs to take medicine for cholesterol - that's what I mean by weight-related as he didn't need it once he got down to a reasonable weight for his age. So, while I have an ideal weight in mind, I'm not going to be heart-broken if I don't reach it, or if I reach it, don't maintain it. I'd rather have the muscle tone, healthy bone structure, lower blood pressure, strong cardiovascular system etc. that physical activity brings.

So #1 is the benefits of physical activity. #2 is to keep my weight under control as I age to lessen the possibility of weight related health problems. Both have the added plus of making my bod a bit sleeker ;^) - I'm not going to fight that, and it is part of my hopes in this. I'm sorta stuck with my face, but with my body I have a little more say, LOL!
