I haven't gotten any *official* exercise in, but I've been on the go all day and did park the van at the far side of the parking lot and had to walk all the way through the hospital to get to Jen's room. According to my pedometer, that was mile in itself. Also, did a lot of walking at the mall this morning, picking up extra stuff for ds's party.
Didn't sleep well last night, so I'm a bit on the tired side this afternoon. Glad dh suggested we go out for dinner tonight.
Gas prices....well, up here in the wild north we are sitting at $.95.9 per litre for regular. Translated into gallons and USD, that is about $2.69 per gallon. There are a couple of little islands here that are over the $1 per litre mark and they figure that the rest of the province will be over $1 by the end of the summer. Now, keep in mind that a hunk of that price is taxes (both federal and provincial) and some of the provinces are talking about rebating some of the tax until things settle down.
Oh, and I got a Mother's Day gift early. My oldest dd bought me a beautiful pair of oval peridot (my birthstone) earrings. She thought they would bring out the green in my eyes. I must say they are lovely and just my style. She has such good taste! She also gave my a card with some very sentimental stuff inside. Brought tears to my eyes.
Well, gotta run and get A ready for this birthday party he's going to.
96 here this afternoon!!! I spent today doing things for my Mom and Dad, so I feel REALLY GOOD about it. I got there at 10:30 and started cleaning off their back porch, so the workmen could pressure wash it. After that, Cheryl and I went to Lowe's to look for shutters, a free standing mailbox, plants, and possibly some decorative brackets for their front posts. Decided we didn't like their selection and prices, so went to Home Depot and did the whole process again.
We wound up making the "executive decision" to buy a light medium gray shutters that never need to be painted instead of the charcoal gray they currently have. We got 2 sets for the large windows on either side of the front door that have never had shutters. I've wanted them for only about 40 years! What a difference they will make. We also got a neat free standing mailbox with a pretty fluted post and the 4 X 4 to support it inside.
Next, we went to Walmart where we found a great deal on a pretty Rubelini palm and some nice Purslane plants -- 6 of the shocking pink with yellow centers and 6 of the bright yellow. We decided they need a flower bed between the driveway and the curved sidewalk up to the front door.
When we finally got back we raked up mountains of magnolia and oak leaves. We filled 8 large contractor size bags and a large garbage can with them. I used a 6' ladder to cut a lot of sucker limbs out of the magnolia and then cut them into sections no longer than 4' so we could pile them at the curb for pick-up. I put together the mailbox and started digging the hole with the post hole diggers, but there were too many roots to get through, and I was afraid I'd hurt my neck. I was already wearing the cervical brace to try to prevent further injury while raking.
I'll be busy at Kids' Day tomorrow and Sunday is Mother's Day, so it'll be Monday before I can start digging up the grass and making the flower bed. We took some before pictures and will take after pictures. I think Dad is a little sad that he can't do the work, but I think he's also relieved that it's finally getting done. The painters will put up the new shutters for us. Dad did come outside for a while and chat with us while we worked, which was good for him.
I'm pretty tired, but I've soaked in Epsom salts and scrubbed my feet with a brush to get them clean. I know I used muscles today and should have burned some calories. I'm just happy to see progress being made at my parents and getting to spend time with my sister while it happened.

I followed doctor's orders and had an excellent eating day - mostly veggies and fruits, good protein & calcium sources & a small bit of whole grains in there. Also, did a 40 min. walk/run - I will try to work up to a 60 min. walk (some days some running) on my "rest" days. Just finished a chai latte with nonfat milk.
Tomorrow's workout is "To the Races". I have to jog 5 min., then do 10 Cardio Drills, 1 min. each, followed by 1 set of 10 reps of each Strength Move using moderate weight. Then I repeat entire workout 1 more time. I like lateral shuffles, high runs, jab & jump combos, incline climbers, step lunge pyramids but don't really care for the other drills in the bootcamp. I need to get the jump rope out for the rest of the drills.
I didn't dip into the after lunch birthday sundae (although I wanted it) so...I did something right.
Food has been excellent for me today.
