You're not lazy Nancy, you live in a different time!

My great grandfather every spring would pull every last stick of furniture out of the house into the front yard and clean every surface of the house with ammonia.

No spring cleaning here.More and more I detest housework.Love how things look when it's done but it never lasts long.I did do some windows yesterday and need to do more later.I'm more of a when the mood strikes me kind of cleaner.

I remember when I first got married one of DHs aunts asked my MIL if I was a good housekeeper.

Do you guys have husbands that help with the cleaning or the cooking?I'm amazed at men who do because mine doesn't. DH has a cousin who helps with the cleaning and does alot of the cooking at his house.I would love to have someone cook for me once in a while.

The day-to-day stuff gets done as needed. Sometimes not, but I try to keep up.

I think "spring cleaning" means stuff like changing over bureaus and closets from winter to summer wear, changing and cleaning heavy draperies for lighter spring/summer weight window treatments, changing over the linens from winter to summer weight, cleaning windows inside and out (easy to do anytime now with tilt-ins), washing blinds (taking them down, laying them in the tub of soapy water and really scrubbing the ropes and trims), stripping old wax from floors and rewaxing (who does that anymore?), and getting your porch and patio and outdoor tables and chairs cleaned up and ready for use. It's a great catch-all term, but I think its use is definitely generational; it'll probably die with us.

I used to spring clean and didn't understand why since I really keep up with things all year. The only thing I might consider srping cleaning is doing some of the windows and the curtains if they look extra grungy. But even those I do randomly all year.

It was a big thing with older generations. Some of it I thinks goes along with Passover and maybe changing drapes over to lighter curtains for the warmer weather.

You are definitely not lazy. It is a different time.

No spring cleaning here. MIL and SIL still do that in their house. I'm lucky to just keep the dog hair to small boulders and the clutter under control. I just try to keep up with everything during the week and once in a while I'll really tackle a room all out. Too much to keep clean and too little time!

I also am harboring an intense dislike for housework. I love how it all looks when it's so nice and clean and tidy and then someone comes in the front door! Dh doesn't really cook-although he will make breakfast on Saturday mornings and occasionally on a Sunday morning and I do have him make the sauce for pasta-just 'cause his tastes better than mine. He does clean the downstairs bathroom and does the dinner dishes because I'm out walking the dog-but he certainly does grumble an awful lot about it. When we were first married he used to help with all the housework but with kids and me being a SAHM and they all became spoiled and remain that way! Somewhere out there there are cabana boys that cook and clean!

Cabana boys that cook and clean???Really????

A few weeks back Dh said he did the laundry. What he did was put some of his clothes in the washer.I then put them in the dryer and then took them out and put them in his closet.

Maybe our DH's are related--guess DH should live at your house though 'cause in this house the wife dumps them on top of the dryer or the nearest empty (did I say empty?) laundry basket until they are collected!
