Last night as I was out running, The Cus and Allison went for a stroll around the block, with Dad walking and Allison riding her bike. On a short leg of one of the busier streets on the block (main throughway for the neighborhood), Dad carried her bike to the street behind ours. When they got there, he put the bike down. Allison didn't move immediately to get back on... so The Cus did. Imagine this 6-foot tall fellow with graying hair riding a kid's bike with training wheels! He had to put his heels on the pedals and his knees were turned out, so it must've looked like something out of a circus. He got going at a pretty good clip, with Allison running behind him laughing hysterically. Two of our neighbors happened to be driving down the street in their cars and were also laughing, making wisecracks out the windows.

I didn't see this happening, The Cus told me about it later. Sorry no pics, but in this case the imagination is better! He still has to bend her training wheels back into position a little bit more....

Ok, so we know the bike can be fixed. I hope he didn't do permanent damage to his knees in that legs-akimbo position. It's nice to hear about such spontaneity - sounds like he has a blast with his girl...

Very, very funny. I have done the same thing on my kids bikes from time to time. As a matter of fact on Monday Katie wanted to ride her bike to school while I ran along side of her. Problem was getting it home, she suggested I ride it or carry it! Guess what, we both walked. I am sure Allison will remember her dad riding the bike, as well as the neighbors.
