On Track Tuesday

Good morning! I loved reading the post about how everyone stays on track, so I gave us all a big thumbs up for our efforts.Really good thoughts in each post.I'm going to put to use Lori's journaling reminder. How come I know that works but forget it???Deb, is so right about not beating ourselves up.I read Shars once and thought how lucky she is not to have to struggle with the food aspect. Then I read it again and realized she had to work to get to that point.Very important point!

So are you on track and where you want to be this Tuesday? It's early in the week so if yesterday didn't go the way you hoped there is still lots of time to make this week count. To be very honest this is a tough week for me.I am struggling to find my motivation and my spirit.Lots of things going on around here; FIL is having some health problems and we're on hold trying to find out how that will play out.Chickens are dropping like flies and look lousy and the workload is so much more than the payoff will be.The extra weight sitting around my waist seems like it's take a life of it's own.Feels like I have no control over anything. But I keep reminding myself that I can control my eating and exercise and my attitude. It's a week where I am determined to keep my head above water and keep going.I can look back on Friday and say I made it or I can fold like a cheap table and climb into a bag of chips :)

Rhonda's post about the concert really had me thinking about music. What tune is going thru your head now?Is there any song that as sooon as you hear it , it lifts your spirits. My cd that I ordered off Amazon came yesterday.Listened to it during a walk as the sun was setting.Loved that!Do any of you hear the theme from Rocky playing when you finish a great workout?

Hope a totally awesome group of women have a totally awesome Tuesday!!!!

Good Morning,

It is a beautiful morning here. The sun is out and the humidity has lowered although I think I need a haircut because everyday seems to be a bad hair day. While making lunches this morning I opened up my back door and really listened to those birds singing. It's really fascinating to listen and hear the different songs back and forth. Nature is amazing.

I did some time on the treadmill this morning and after a long hiatus finally picked up my weights. I really need some new workouts. I like the idea of yoga and pilates but not sure whether that's the way to get myself going in the AM and I always have a doubt in my mind whether I'm doing it correctly. I seem to need a jolt of cardio because of the early morning hour but I get frustrated on the treadmill with the pace and the final distance I have to set to keep myself ache free. I've got all kinds of videos but they bore me after

awhile. Definitely no Rocky themes pounding in this head.

Nothing much else new on the horizon in this neck of the woods. Hope your day is totally on track!

Good morning!

I stop and think of what an inspiration this entire board is! A mixture of strength and wisdom, friendship and power. Alot must be said proudly of us women over 40. I honestly feel I have aged well and I am proud to say I am 43. "Did I just say that?" Mentally I am in a better state now then 15 years ago. I am proud of what I have accomplished, a good marriage, a sweet husband of 23 years, 3 beautiful children, a lovely home, returning to school and now entering into the work world. Physically I need improvement but hey it takes time. I exercise more now than I did back then. I am trying to eat healthier more often and even though those wrinkles pop up now and then I earned each one.

Yesterday was a good eatting day until after dinner. I wonder if this dreary, rainy weather we are having plays a part in it. Is it an excuse? I ate my breakfast, and lunch and dinner for that fact within my WW points (I did not journel) but then Katie went to bed, the boys were out in the garage working on thier cars, and I was alone. I made a cup of tea and started to read a few magazines, well the cookie monster struck. I dipped into 2 of those Lemon Archway cookies. Today is another day.........right? I am up with a fresh attitude. I am off from work, the beds are already made, the dishwasher is going, the dryer is on and my tea is finished. Katie will be leaving in a few minutes to catch her bus and then I am going to meet up with my mom and walk over at the track. If the weather holds. If not its a walking tape. I have a nail appointment this afternoon, I plan on going to WW to weigh in........yes I am going to get back on the scale, and then Katie has riding. I think I will run to the grocery store and buy some veggies and fruit, some jello and some WW entrees. I need to have the "tools" in the house to do well. So that is my game plan, now I need to focus on me today and make it work.

Patti, step away from those chips!!!!! Are those a trigger food for you? Mine are baked goods. I crumble with certain cookies in the house. How did Shar get to that point, where food was no longer an issue? I need to get to that place. I love to eat.

To everyone have an awsome day!

Patty,

Sorry to hear that life is so tough in CL. Hope things improve there and that things are OK with your FIL.

John Cougar Mellencamp's "Cherry Bomb" and Steve Winwood's "Roll With It" (and "Higher Love") always set my toes to tappin' and put me in good spirits. No particular song running through my head right now.

I've exercised regularly since Friday, completing with a 3.8 mile run yesterday. My legs were still a bit sore from Body Sculpt the day before, but more than that it was still in the mid-80s even though the sun was setting, and stifling humidity. I'm going to have to revert back to getting up with The Cus and running in the morning when it's not so darned miserable. Still, even with a minute of walking, 40 minutes of good cardio.

Today is my rest day from working out. We've got a picnic to go to mid-morning, and then I'll work a little more on that To-Do list. Out of 20 items, many of them minor, I got 10 done yesterday, and added 3 more for today. I should be able to knock more of those out; a few of them I know will remain on there until after Memorial Day. But overall I feel good about what I accomplished yesterday, home-wise and health-wise.

Tonight, tuna cakes, brown rice and carrots for dinner. One of my favorite meals.

Good morning!

Patty, I'm so sorry to hear you don't think your hard work in chicken heaven is going to pay off with this sorry batch of birds. I hope the company guy knows the kind of effort you put into your job. I also hope your FIL's health issues aren't so serious that they cause you more stress.

It looks like I'm back on track. I used AF to my benefit, not hers - as a way to blow off steam instead of wallowing. I had a good workout last night - really worked up an ugly sweat, even with the fan blasting in my face, for almost 90 minutes. Cardio, and mostly lower body work and abs. I rode my exercycle for 4 miles - sprints and steady speed - along with walking/jogging for 2 miles. I'm going to start using the bike more than I have been. I need to work on these saddlebags. They're SO annoying. Maybe there's a way to work them without aid of a cleaver! Workout tonight is cardio and UB. I'm going to try to use the 10-lb dumbbells for all my arm work, not just the tricep kickbacks, and see where that gets me. See you in traction.....

Remember the Today's Special Value I ordered from QVC last week? A 3-pc Denim & Company outfit, stretch cotton pique print crop pants, solid jacket with a really pretty cuff feature, and white short-sleeved knit shirt, dominant color light turquoise. It arrived yesterday. It's very cute and very flattering. I thought by ordering an outfit with a floral print pant I might be taking a walk on the wild side, but they look nice (even the saddlebags aren't quite so obvious). Now if it would just warm up a touch so I can wear it.....

I was thinking of the beat-yourself-up tone of everyone's posts yesterday, too. This is easier said than done, but I want you all to stop it - now! I think every one of you needs to take credit for exercising at all with the kinds of schedules you all put in. You're way ahead of the vast majority of Americans who super-size their meals, but do nothing to counteract the negative effects of all that food. No more talk of "I only did 30 minutes" or similar comments. Everyone's fitness levels are different, and it takes time to build up. There's no all or nothing at all with fitness; whatever you do, it all adds up. No more regrets about having a goody now and then - how many of you sit down and inhale a bag of Oreos every week? Truly? I had Ben & Jerry's ice cream last week (a new favorite flavor - coconut almond fudge chip) and tiramisu Saturday. DH went and made a batch of choc chip cookies, and since they're small I've sampled one a day since Sunday. They're wonderful treats, nothing more. They didn't comprise my whole menu for the week, because I won't let them take over again. I don't want to say it's mind over matter, because it isn't. That stuff has a place in your diet, it's just that its place can't be at the top of the list.

Now, take off the human-punching bag costumes, take a deep breath, and start fresh. OK??? OK!!

Hugs,

Donna
