Saw a post from Donna, part of which was addressed to you - did you decide the replacement job was not for you?

Oh yea! He was a real jerk. I did my Tuesday and Thursday and I was miserable. He was very condisending and sarcastic. Made for a long and depressing day. Gosh he made me feel stupid and nervous. I was able to handle the work without a problem, but he did not seem happy. He was a dinosaur with stuff. His (mine - the secretary's)computer was operating with Windows 95. He used Floppy's to save information. He has boxes (64 of them) all around the office, which is piled ontop of each other, under the tables and the secretary's desk. The only phone in the office was on his desk and I had to run around my desk, the boxes, a bunch of chairs, and then around to the back of his desk, when he was not there and pick it up before the 4th ring. Found out that a lady I knew worked for him, saw her file in the file cabinet. I called her and asked how long she worked for him and she said 3 days. She said he made her feel stupid and the office was too depressing. Only the 2 rooms, no one came or went, very quiet. I, like her love people. Then when my girl friend, who works upstairs was telling her attorney about what was going on down stairs he told her he was not surprised. There were so many things, it was almost comical. He was cheap. He had this scrap paper pile, which I understand but he actually asked me if I knew what the pile was for. I was like SCRAP PAPER.......right? He was no actually he likes to use the scrap pile as a judge of how well you are doing. If the pile is low it shows you are doing a better job and making less mistakes. I just stood there for a moment and thought, did he just say that to me? Then 3 minutes later he hands me a fax, tells me to fax it out. I asked if he wanted my to type a cover page, and real sarcastic he says........"no the letter is self explanitory and there is no need to waste another sheet of paper". So I said, alright and I began to fax it. He stands there behind me and says he is going to watch me to make sure I do it correctly. I felt like I was in grade school again. I am too old for that crap. After I came home, Bill said there was no reason to take his garbage. I do not have to work, I am choosing to work. It should be nice and enjoyable and besides no one should be able to talk and treat people like that and get away with it. So that is only some of the stuff. I am glad I did it and left. I know I will have to find another job, but the game plan for now is to stay with Steven until July, go away to TN on our family vacation and then take the rest of the summer off with the kids. This may be my last opportunity to be home with them for the summer. So we will do our pool, the beach, and some day trips. I know the kids are happy about this. Things have a way of working out, and I will start to look in August with the idea of starting something new in Sept., still part time.

Deb

PS: The office in front of our smokes and I hate cig. smoke. It smells awful even when the doors were closed. I had to go through there several times a day too, to use the bathroom.

Gee, Deb, I had no idea it was that bad beyond the smoke and the depressing surroundings! To quote Lori, what a buttload! He's lucky he had you as long as he did. Better to enjoy the summer with the kids.....

Good for you for recognizing that the guy has some serious social problems! You're right - if you don't have to put up with it, why should you? Earlier I think we were all suggesting to give it a few days, but I don't think I'd put up with a micromanager like that who'd scrutinize how I fax things.

I feel sorry for the guy's clients.
