Memorial Day Plans???

Since we gracefully got out of driving 14 hours each way to attend my nephew's 8th grade graduation....and do all that driving this weekend, we're free to do whatever we want.

I do want to do a bbq, maybe go on a hike, or finish my planting (30 or so annuals begging to be put in the ground).

What are your weekend plans, or Memorial Day plans in particular?

Going to a place called Chimney Rock Park in the mountain area of Asheville (NC). The online (and actual) brochure shows breathtaking views of valleys, rivers, and waterfalls. There is also an Alfresco Jazz concert and cooking demos at the Biltmore Estate Winery that we may also go to. Am so looking forward to a mini vacation!

Thomas Wolfe's Asheville home was restored over the last few years after a major fire and the reopening is this weekend, I believe. Festivities planned for that, too.

No plans here, just work as usual. Maybe some quiet hammock time.

It's my nephew's turn for his sleepover, so we'll be doing kid things Saturday (I see a round of extreme mini-golf Saturday after an early dinner) and Sunday before we return him to his rightful owners Sunday afternoon. Monday, hubby and I are going out to play - I really want to get to Cape Cod for the day before the crowds become obnoxious, but if the traffic reports Monday morning are saying don't go south, we might just get inspired by all the gardening talk here and head out to pick up a couple hundred impatiens and plant them along the walkway and around the front bushes.

Oh, yeah, gotta trim the yew bushes WAY back.....

We have company coming over on Saturday night from Florida. Its one of my best friends from High School and her hubby. They are coming for cake and coffee. On Sunday we are going to the race track in New Jersey and on Monday sleep in and we are hoping to open our pool. Weather permitting.

Mom keeps wanting me to go there when I go to Asheville. She's been there and thinks it's very interesting.

No specific plans for us. DD's BF will be here from MA so I'm sure I will be providing a BBQ somewhere over the course of the weekend. I'm hoping that the weather cooperates and I can get some gardening attended to.

Sharks have been spotted quite a bit down by where we usually go in St. Augustine Beach, so we won't be going there this weekend. Also, just found out
