1. What would you LIKE to have for a Memorial Day cookout?

Anything my little heart desires. Right now I'm thinking some chicken kabobs and I found a recipie for veggies wrapped in foil on the grill.

2. Do you do anything to honor veterans over the Memorial Day weekend?

There is always a parade in our town with ceremonies in our little park which is actually called Memorial Park. The head of our local VFW heads the ceremony and there are usually local officials there. I don't always attend but DH is always there.

3. Do you hit the Memorial Day sales at the stores?

No.

4. Is there a branch of the service that is particularly close to your heart?

Marines for my dad who served in the South Pacific during WWII and the Air Force for the years my DH served during Vietnam.

5. What's the weather supposed to be like for Memorial Day in your area?

It is raining here at the moment and very foggy. Supposedly by the end of the day it's supposed to clear out and Saturday and Sunday should be nice with rain moving back in Monday afternoon.

Once again, many thanks Rhonda!

1. What would you LIKE to have for a Memorial Day cookout? Burgers! Smoked sausage or kielbasa a close second.

2. Do you do anything to honor veterans over the Memorial Day weekend? No. We'll watch some documentaries or movies, but nothing like getting out to a parade or going to a ballgame.

3. Do you hit the Memorial Day sales at the stores? Sometimes, usually on Saturday or Sunday.

4. Is there a branch of the service that is particularly close to your heart? Yes, Air Force. My Dad was in the enlisted ranks for 29 years and a few months.

5. What's the weather supposed to be like for Memorial Day in your area? Hot, humid, no rain forecast for here. A little cooler in the mountains with probably the usual scattered PM showers.

1. What would you LIKE to have for a Memorial Day cookout?

I'd really like an old-fashioned clambake. Lobster and steamers with drawn butter, corn on the cob, potato salad, watermelon, and soft-serve ice cream - but I can't eat the steamers anymore and they're actually my favorite part of the meal.

2. Do you do anything to honor veterans over the Memorial Day weekend?

I try to get to the cemetery my dad's in. He's a veteran, Father's Day is right around the corner, and the cemetery is a long, congested commute from our house, so we try to get there Memorial Day or close to it each year.

3. Do you hit the Memorial Day sales at the stores? Not intentionally. I don't set out intending to shop, but if I wander into a store, that's fine.

4. Is there a branch of the service that is particularly close to your heart? My dad was in the Navy - he was in the Pacific theater of WWII - so that would have to be it.

5. What's the weather supposed to be like for Memorial Day in your area?

70's, sunny with a chance of rain - I think that's become the fallback forecast for the weather-people.

Gee, Rhonda, you covered all bases in this one - food (first, I noticed ), shopping, the Vets, and the weather. Thanks!
