and I hope that is all it is. When the seller of the house submitted his house survey to the town, they discovered the kitchen addition is 2 feet too close to the property line. The codes were changed in 1998 and this addtion is 10 years old. Now, this wouldn't be a problem, but the seller didn't get a building permit originally and the addition is considered new. The kids are so disappointed and the town moves so slowly it could take a month to 6 months to get a variance.

Grace I see this happen alot. It will work out. Hey if they are not that much in a rush they may be able to save a little more like you said. The only problem is the interest rates are going up. They can also close in escrow and wait for the CO's and variance to come in after they move in. What did their attorney have to say about it?

So sorry to hear this, Grace! Our Realtors complain constantly about the botched up closings they have - anything and everything goes wrong & will tie up the deal. I hope your dd and fiance's house deal doesn't get held up too long! Keep us posted.

Hope everything works out well for them. The only good thing is that they're not under a time constraint at the moment.
