Memorial Day Post

Today when I came to the board to post I was so humbled to think of the freedom I have to come here and post my thoughts and opinions on so many subjects.I'm also humbled to think of the many freedoms I have each day that I so take for granted.None of these would be possible without the men and women who fought to give me so much.I watched a program honoring the veterns and was so moved. We never completely realize all they sacrificed for us.Today they will all be on my mind and in my heart.

It looks like a rainy day here. Hoping to be able to get out for a walk at the track with my sister. Also on the workout agenda are my weights. What are the rest of you up to today?Workout plans?Picnics?A nap while it rains?

Anyone starting out the week with goals or specific fitness plans?I like Grace's idea about the small changes for each week.

I loved Rhonda's post about friends today.Lot to think about there.Wondering if I'm the friend I should be or if there are some fences to mend or old issues to let go.And it definitely made me think of this board and the many friends I cherish here. Thanks guys being here and for being you.

Happy Memorial Day! You are so right on target, Patty. When I was younger I just thought of Memorial Day as another holiday -- a chance to be out of school, a day to go to the beach, or a time to cookout with family or friends. After I got older, I realized just how important a day it is and how deep its meaning is.

I hope we'll all take time to think about the many sacrifices hundreds of thousands of people have made through the years to provide and maintain our freedom and security. I pray for wisdom and strength for the President, safety and courage for our troops, and for

Good Morning,

Excellent post Patty. Today is a very special day for those that have served and are serving our country and have given and are giving so much for the freedom we enjoy.

I slept in this morning and slept so well last night. It must have been all that fresh air and sunshine yesterday. My flowers look so nice. Lots of pots of plants and my little strip by my patio looks wonderful. We uncovered all the patio furniture and we're all set for outside dining! I will admit to being a bit stiff and sore from all the ripping up and carrying bricks and planting, but it was worth it!

Not sure what is on the agenda for today. It's bright and sunny at the moment. I'm not sure whether it's going to stay that way...but it truly has been a beautiful weekend. I think I'm going to putter around in the basement in my ongoing project to try to declutter this joint! Hamburgers on the bbq for dinner.

Phyllis-glad to hear that you and Johnny got to spend the weekend together!

Hope you all have a wonderful day.

Happy Memorial Day All! It was a whole weekend of thinking of the sacrifices the veterans made, Patty. This is one lucky country to have such wonderful generations who did everything for our freedom. Hope you get that run on the track in with your sis today!

It was rough getting up today to teach the Pilates class with everyone still in bed. I slept like a log last night after spending hours outdoors walking at the Old Bethpage Restoraion Village. There was a strange moment when we were walking around the grounds and the Blue Angels flew overhead on their way to Jones Beach air show and drowned out the "colonial brass band". We were warned they were due to fly over soon and they did. Everyone ran out of the buildings to watch. What an awesome sight.

I tried to do the elliptical after class but only made 20 minutes...my "bad" eating from yesterday caught up to me. DD brought over a cake and I just had to have some. Homemade potato salad and coleslaw didn't help.

DD and her DH may come over again today for another BBQ...I will pull something easy out of the freezer for BBQing.

Hope you all have a good day...sounds like the weekend is going well so far.
