Memorial Day Post

Today when I came to the board to post I was so humbled to think of the freedom I have to come here and post my thoughts and opinions on so many subjects.I'm also humbled to think of the many freedoms I have each day that I so take for granted.None of these would be possible without the men and women who fought to give me so much.I watched a program honoring the veterns and was so moved. We never completely realize all they sacrificed for us.Today they will all be on my mind and in my heart.
It looks like a rainy day here. Hoping to be able to get out for a walk at the track with my sister. Also on the workout agenda are my weights. What are the rest of you up to today?Workout plans?Picnics?A nap while it rains?
Anyone starting out the week with goals or specific fitness plans?I like Grace's idea about the small changes for each week.
I loved Rhonda's post about friends today.Lot to think about there.Wondering if I'm the friend I should be or if there are some fences to mend or old issues to let go.And it definitely made me think of this board and the many friends I cherish here. Thanks guys being here and for being you.

Nice day you have planned, Rhonda. "Decoration Day" is a special day...makes me feel so lucky to be an American.
After the day you have planned, I would think not cooking is the way to go. I am always so tired after going to the beach.
Have a good one.

That makes 2 of us who slept really well last night from fresh air and sunshine. You certainly got a lot accomplished yesterday with your gardens. It must look beautiful.
I don't think the weather is going to cooperate today. I am still wondering how the beach attendance was so high yesterday, breaking all previous records...a little cool for me.
Don't get lost in the "dungeon" decluttering. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Hope you have a safe drive home too, Linda! How long a trip is it? It always feels good to get back into a routine after being away.
So nice to hear that FIL's tools will be passed down to his sons. I always love to hear things like that.
See you tomorrow!

The drive ins are just about gone around here, Nancy. Haven't thought about them in a long time. There was a place and a time for them years ago, but now with surround sound and all the stadium seating, it isn't high tech enough. It was romantic though!
Your memorial day service sounds nice and there you are emceeing it. Oh, by the way, the house will wait for you...sigh. Doesn't it always?
Have a nice day and I hope you get your nap in.

The shoes felt great yesterday without breaking them in and walking a LOT! The big toe on my left foot rubbed just a tiny bit, but I don't have any callouses left on my feet since the surgery. Kind of have to toughen the skin up again. I am actually pleased that I did so well yesterday with the all the walking on uneven ground.
My legs were very tired today and actually I felt it yesterday too. I think the 48 minutes I did on Saturday was still affecting. (affect or effect?..you are the "word lady"...maybe you can tell me...LOL)

We woke early & made a tour of E. Texas lakes. I fell down trying to cross a creek - wonder how many calories falling in slimy mud & on rocks burns!! DS caught a few small fish which we didn't keep. We stopped along the way and bought some fresh peaches at a peach stand. They were all along the highway on the way to Pittsburg (home of Bo Pilgrim and Pilgrim Pride Chicken - he practically owns the towns of Pittsburg and adjoining Mt. Pleasant) We then came home and I used my tiny new charcoal grill! It is so cute & portable! It's a Sunbeam and cost $9.96 at Walmart. I grilled 2 ribeyes (one for ds and his dad will eat the other - I'm not a steak eater, really), some hot dogs, sausages and now I'm making my wonderful bbq chicken (Pilgrim Pride chicken, of course!). We had fresh peaches & baked beans - not very hungry after that! I'm not sure if I have the energy to make my Cooking Light Banana Maple Walnut Ice Cream or not. A strawberry daquiri sounds better, LOL!
I'm watching a show on WWII on History Channel now. I loved the movie "Pearl Harbor", Deb! I wish I could have watched that show you and Eric had watched. I can't believe June 6th is the 60th anniversary of D-Day!!!
Hope you all had a wonderful day.
