I was hoping some of you gals who live in the warmer climates might be able to share some info on electric fireplaces.

Margie we have a traditional fire place and we use it all winter long. Unfortunatly it is not very ecomomical to use for the heat does escape at night once it goes out. We have talked about switching to a gas fire place just to avoid the mess and fuss that goes with the wood. But we so love the smell of a real wood fire. I know I did not help any, sorry.

I have a traditional fireplace too. We don't use it often, but I enjoy having it. My sister has a gas fireplace, which is very nice with a real flame. My ex's parents had one in their house when we were dating, and we always liked it.

We got a fireplace screen this winter with some glass "jewels" in it that have votive holders behind them. When it's not cold enough for a fire, I can still like the votives behind it and see the warmth and flicker of candle flames.

Skip a fireplace!!?? I getting a feeling of romance from our fireplace--especially with the rain coming down, or the sun shining, or it's a happy or sad day.
