high school graduation gift in 2004?

Does anyone remember what they got for their gift from high school graduation?

Implants, for a high school graduation gift? I'm appalled that anyone thinks it's a good idea, and I cannot believe the mothers and fathers who go along with it when the girls suggest it, much less offer it themselves. I would hope they would have found a better way to boost their daughters' self-esteem by now. All the wrong signals, all the wrong messages. Man! If I had a daughter who wanted them, I'm afraid this would be a point of loud discussion - no way in he**, no how, end of it!

High-school graduation gift from mom was a nice monetary gift with no restrictions on what I did with it (and I did not get implants!), and a fantastic party that she did all the cooking for. I can still taste everything she prepared, and I won't elaborate so as not to tempt you!

We didn't have a senior class trip. It was an inner city all-girls high school, and we decided that making the kids of limited means (most of us were in that group) feel pressured or left out wasn't right. We did have a senior class day - headed to the beaches near Plymouth, MA on a school day and just hung out and had fun. My prom gown - turquoise, a frumpy-looking number that no 17-yr-old would be caught dead in today.

Deb, were the Belle France dresses popular among your crowd? I had a closet full of them; they were so pretty and feminine, and gave the illusion of a long waist where there was none!

Man, that's pretty sad, especially after reading Margie's post - mom & daughter "partying" together (it doesn't sound like the kind partying done to celebrate an occasion or honor something/someone), and a mom in denial about herself not being in her 20s any more... that's what's happened to their daughters' self-esteem, their moms have their own misplaced and that's what the daughters see. When you have a handle on life, you realize all this stuff is superficial, that looks *don't* make the person and that life is much bigger than the temporary here and now. They'll get their implants and won't find any more self-esteem with them than when they didn't have them at all. Definitely a questionable place to put your values - at least to me.

Anyhoo, I got a set of luggage for my high school graduation, first time I ever had matching luggage. No trip - we didn't have the money with college coming up.

I saw this on tv this morning and could not believe it!How sad that young girls get further and further away from what they really need. What are these parents thinking of??I can't imagine that any 18 yr old is actually ready to make a decision like this.

For graduation I got luggage and some money. Our senior trip was to Hershey Park.We stopped along the way to look at a monument so we could call it educational.

I found your story amazing...Breast implants for graduation. It makes me wonder what our society is coming to.

Anyway I went to a large school and there was no class trip. However, we now live in a small town and our son got to go to Washington DC/NYC for his Senior trip.

I got luggage. He gets money for tools. Times change. Our daughter who graduated in 2000 did not get an implant! (S)

Just when you think you've heard it all! I guess the new cars as graduation gifts that appeared around the time my DDs graduated are now a thing of the past too! Really is quite sad.

There was no senior trip at my high school. And I do believe that I received a gold charm bracelet for graduation.
