Have you noticed the WW and Atkins

friendly menu selections at certain restaurants these days? I think I'll take ds to Applebee's this week for dinner and I will try their Grilled Citrus Chicken Salad (5 points) and a slice of their Chocolate Raspberry Layer Cake (4 points). Will have to eat light that day to have 9 points at dinner, but that cake sounds yummy! I noticed TGI Friday's has Atkins friendly menu items. Also, ds and I went to Cracker Barrel in Shreveport yesterday on the way home and they had low carb items on the menu.

BTW, Jazzerdeb, congratulations for staying within your points target! I find it very difficult to do, myself. You're right about keeping busy - it does help immensely!

P.S. Donna, I checked my email thru the AOL browser & did get your mail. It's the AOL Anywhere that isn't functioning on my system today.

Well, back to closet cleaning!

Wow, what a fun way to spend a vacation day! You'll probably barrel right through the closets and be looking for something else to do tomorrow.

Since TGI Friday's is very popular on sleepover weekends at our house, we've been going there since they started the Atkins-friendly meals on their menu. Basically, it's any other high-protein meal already on the menu without a starchy carb side; instead they serve a very fresh and generous side of veggies, and a typical salad (and I think croutons are included, which you would push to the side if you were a fanatical Atkins follower). The protein portion of the meal is very tasty, too large (especially the steak and bunless burger) and not particularly low in fat, so you end up bringing a good amount home or, in my case, sharing it with the pint-sized steak-with-French's-mustard lover accompanying us. I eat so much chicken and fish during the week I find myself gravitating toward beef when we go there; the steak is a sirloin strip, which at least is leaner than ribeye.

A bunch of Ground Rounds near us closed down; the one closest is supposed to be replaced by an Applebee's, which would be nice, as that is No. 2 on the list of the peanut gallery's favorites. Cracker Barrel is finally arriving near the neighborhood ("near" meaning within 15 miles)- July 5th is the estimated opening date. The little ones know and love CB from their roadtrips to FL, SC, and VA. Funny that it should be opening in proximity to a high-end-designer outlet mall. Who will be able to fit into the clothes they sell after a treat from CB?

Did you make it to Applebee's to try the WW menu yet?
