Spent the morning writing and rewriting my letter to the Chair of Heart Ball saying I've decided to step down.

A couple of more thoughts....

Nancy...I've seen you in person and both you and your DH are very youthful looking.

Hello everyone!DS has a full week of classes this week and is on a different schedule. He was on the computer all morning doing his homework which meant I couldn't get my FOF fix!

Nancy I can not believe anyone mistook you for your DHs mother!!!Are you sure she wasn't thinking of your son and was just really confused???

I went to the track for my run today and it was wonderful.Warm but not hot and a nice breeze blowing.I worked on my speed today so did a shorter run. I've only done that on my treadmill where it's easier to track.Didn't think I was doing so well and was really pleased when I finished and checked my time.I'm really having a good time with my runs this summer.Had the track to myself except for the mowing crew. And in the field over a group of little leauge teams were practicing.Very nice summer morning.

So nice to come to the board and see posts from everyone. It occurred to me that in the summer especially I have alot of days where the only place I go is CL and the track. The board is often my social life!!!You guys are so much more fun to talk with than the chickens!

"Give" time off during the convention? Hehehehe. HAHAHA. LOL! Sorry, couldn't help myself. They don't "give" freely - we'd have to take vacation time and stay home, or else figure out how to stagger our own arrivals/departures with our immediate supervisors. No official policy noises coming from the corner office here. We're located on the opposite end of town from the Fleet Center. The public transportation nightmare that's going to affect commuters coming in from north of the city and trying to get across town (like my immediate supervisor and the business development group's graphic artist) won't be so bad for me, since I approach from the south. I'm concerned that my hubby is going to get caught in the highway chaos as traffic spills back onto the perimeter roads (like Route 128, which he has to travel) from the closed-down roadways around the convention site.

BTW, my company is headquartered in the building above Penn Station/Madison Square Garden in NYC - and I haven't heard anything about staggered hours, voluntary furloughs, etc for the Republican Convention from my friends down there. So if it's business as usual for them, it'll be business as usual for us.

My sister, wisely, has scheduled a few days in NH at Storyland with my mom and the kids. Her reservations were in place long before the news about the road and public transportation shutdowns came out. Her hubby is going to be working in that traffic mess. She would have to travel miles out of her way to get to work, as she's north and her hospital is in the Boston medical district on the south side of town. She has to be at work at 5 am. I think she did a very smart thing.
