I've seen some very interesting programs and articles on it lately. It may be just what you need to get you on the right track. By then, if you can eat healthier and get started exercising, you may just see wonders happen!! Good luck!

It is a big decision and it needs to be thought through completely. I wish you luck in your decision. I am sure it is a hard one to make. You need to do what will work best for you. It is not a magic cure by any means and it will still require lots of work on your part. I wish you luck. Please keep us posted on how you do.
It makes sense that you are scared... My two cents...does your doctor think the risks are outweighed by the benefits in health? I would look into it thoroughly, read everything I can about it, talk frankly with my doctor about the risks to ME personally, not just the "statistics". Have a clear picture of recovery...time, what to expect, exactly what you will need to do, how long, etc., and make an informed decision. It sounds to me that your health issues are at the point where your only choice might be this drastic and serious step.
i understand your fears. i applaud you for confronting them and trying to take charge of your body.
a friend of mine at work had (i believe it was gastric bypass) surgery - and was *thrilled* with the results. just remember it's not a cure-all. it could give you a chance to create new habits. if you go through with it, commit yourself to using the opportunity to do the walking and other exercising, and learning to eat healthy food, that will make your body healthier in the long-run.
best of luck with whatever you decide. keep us posted!
That's a big step. I concur with the others that the surgery is just the first step, that to remain successful, lifestyle changes will still have to occur. Learn everything you can, and good luck in your decision.

Susan
