The best and hardest thing for me to do when I get down is to come here and post about it.

It depends on what the negativity is as to how to remove those obstacles - if it's stress from family activities, work, or health problems, or other negative things. I've always thought that since bad habits can be replaced by good ones, the same should hold true for negative things being replaced by positive things.

I figured out what was wrong with me this season up until this weekend - I hadn't gotten into my closet to try on the summer stuff! That always gets me in the mood to keep up my good habits. I also spend a little money on myself - buy some "positive" stuff - healthy foods and beverages, exercise equipment, and clothes are real motivators. So are buying motivational books or videos, sometimes. Getting the foods out of the house that I don't want to pass my lips is a must. This a.m. ds wanted donuts and I just bought enough for him. During bad weather, I tend to be lax on everything, so this is the time to really pump myself up by trying on clothes and reading inspirational stuff.

Good luck, Grace. You are in great shape from the pictures you have posted & I know it is from good eating and workouts.

My answer is in fond remembrance of Bill N., former boss and VP of the company I used to work for. He had a term for recurring complaining. So, when negativity hits I do a lot of "pissin' and moanin'", LOL! Seriously, I gotta vent, and do just a little wallowing in self-centered self-pity, even if it's all my doing. If I'm in the mood to make a change that day, I'll work up a sweat doing something later on. If not, I vow first thing in the morning to follow through.

Grace, if I remember correctly you step on the scales every day? I'll tell ya that one of the best things I ever did for myself was to stop checking my weight daily. It's too easy to let day-to-day fluctuations get you down. And some of 'em, frankly, you don't have much control over (water retention, esp. hormonal). I was sure I would gain 10 pounds in 2 weeks since I wasn't keeping up with my weight daily, but I didn't. It has been liberating to be free from the daily accusation(!), and instead hang my hat on an average range.
