My day has turned out very nicely. After feeling pretty rundown a good bit of the day, Tim and I decided to take Katie and Winston for a walk on the beach this evening. They were so excited! It was gorgeous there, and they plopped down in the water, rolled in it, ran in it, visited people and other dogs, and rolled in the sand. We saw an osprey swoop down and grab a fish in its talons out of the shallow, a guy who'd caught a small black-tip shark and a small hammerhead (!), and five horses rode up behind us before we knew it. I think Katie and Winston were pretty overwhelmed. They didn't even bark.
To top it off we went through the McDonald's drive-thru and let them split a double cheeseburger, which they'd never done. What more could a dog ask for? Now, I have to give them both baths even though they look like they'd prefer bed.
Of course, the highlight of the day was that Dad seems to have come through surgery well. His blood pressure had come down earlier, then went back up some, but not nearly as much as it had. We're so hopeful that things will get better, including some of his back pain and some of his dizziness, which could be related. He should get to come home tomorrow.
Again, I appreciate all of you who've offered your prayers and good thoughts.

I had a simply WONDERFUL day! We had the day off today (for some stupid reason our doctor thinks we should have today off instead of Monday) so we drove up to St.Paul to visit with ds, dil, and my dear sweet wonderful beautiful grandson. He is so good and so sweet. I held him all afternoon....well, inbetween feedings, that is. He's just so adorable. We are back home now and I'm already missing him! I can't wait to see him again. I tell ya ladies, being a grandma is just about the best thing in the whole world! I watch ds and dil with the baby and it brings back memories of when ds was a baby and dh and I were new parents. Makes me want to cry.....for two reasons. One, I miss those days, and two, watching them being parents makes me SO PROUD.
Did I tell you all that I'm training for a short run that I'm going to do on the 10th? We have whats called Heritagefest here in our town. It's the second and third weekends of July and on the first Sat. they have a run. I've always wanted to do it and have been chicken in the past but this year I decided I'm doing it...NO MATTER WHAT! My brother is coming down from the cities to run it with me. Should be fun! Anyway, I've been getting up 3 to 4 mornings every week at 4:45 a.m. and running 2 miles....and I love it! Never thought I'd be hearing myself say that about early mornings or about running! Well, speaking of which, I better get my buns to bed soon....tomorrow is an early one!
Friday has been busy here.I usually get my run in about 9am or so.Today it was 5 o'clock til I got to it.Food has gone well today.I'm trying to visualize how I will be able to get back in some clothes if I keep at it.Also trying to focus on how great I will feel. But about 6 pm all I could focus on was how much I wanted a cookie!!!
Tweety, how great about the run! That's fantastic that you decided to do it this year. And it is so nice that your brother will be doing it with you. Please let us know how it goes.
Love reading about your grandson. He is really a beautiful baby.It must be incredible to watch your son with his son.
Way to go, Tweety! I guess it shows you never know what you can do or might really like until you try. I commend all the effort you're putting into it and wish you the best of luck in the run.
I can just imagine how you feel about being a new grandmother. Just being a great aunt is really exciting too.

No fries (or ketchup, mustard, pickles, & onions) for the "kids," but they each got a hamburger, a slice of cheese, and half a bun, which the little piglets skarfed down immediately. That's way too fattening to do other than on rare occasions, but it just seemed right tonight. They are sacked out on the bed.
Mom and Lisa both updated me on Dad. Mom said he sounded good over the phone tonight and was talking about going to Lisa's on the 4th!!! He was a little woozie from the anesthesia this AM, but had gotten up to go to the bathroom. I was very encouraged by that. He is quite remarkable. Lisa went by the hosp. after work and said his BP was back up even though he'd just had medicine.
It was a good day, Nancy! I had a pleasant lunch with my 2 friends; I stuck with the old standby eggplant parmigiana, which was awesome, and a small salad to fill up the space I left by not eating the whole eggplant parm serving (way too big for a lunchtime portion). My immediate supervisor (he's the good guy) came by around 2:45 and wished me a happy and safe 4th, which is shorthand for "you can leave now". I called one of my lunch friends to see if she could go early, she could, so we left and had a big glass of iced coffee at the new DD that opened just this morning in the shadow of one of the $4Bucks near my office. Thank goodness - now I can get really good iced coffee every day without breaking the bank.
I called DH from Dunkin's and told him I was out, asked if he could leave, he could, so I caught an early train and we were home by 5. We immediately went to Costco, and I vow never to go there again before a holiday. What a madhouse. They didn't even have steak tips or chicken breast, so I ended up going to the regular supermarket anyway. All we have left to get is wine for the grownups and a large drink cooler so I can make a vat of iced tea. We got home too late to think about dinner; fortunately, DH had a nice lunch today, too, so neither of us was ravenous even at 9:30.
I just finished making the gazpacho for Sunday. It looks good and it smells good - Costco did have awesome tomatoes that I could actually buy without having too many left over. I had to wash the kitchen floor after I was done with it - my food processor overflowed and a bit of what flowed over the counter landed on the floor. I'm going to make macaroni salad tomorrow, and I'm saving the American Flag cake to make with my niece on Sunday before the company arrives.
I have an early start Saturday morning and a busy weekend ahead, so I'm going to hit the feathers soon. Will check in over the weekend if my Princess allows me a moment of my own. Not likely!
I had another fun filled wonderful extra day off. I got in a walk tape and then my Tamilee Webb Buns tape-I'll be feeling that one tomorrow! I went with DD and we both had our piggies painted. I have this bright fushia color on the piggies and really like it! It was then a stop at work for my paycheck and a trip to the bank. DD and I then went shopping and a stop at Trader Joes and then we went to All American Burger for lunch. It's a little roadside burger place where you can get the best burgers, fries and shakes-and I enjoyed all three! The two of us ate for $6.00. I picked up Mystic River for a movie at some point this weekend and then home for a little reading and naptime-although this relaxation wears a woman out! The rest of the evening was on the couch with my HGTV and TLC!

So glad to hear your dad has come thru surgery well. It's really upsetting to think of the stress his body has been under all this time.

LOL! Our minds work so much alike. Good for you for getting your run in even though it was later. You've really stuck with your running.
Thanks so much for your sweet and funny card. It was so you!
