eating? I read about The Hamptons Diet a few days ago and decided to check out the book at Barnes and Noble tonight. It's another *good carb* plan similar to South Beach, but with a few differences. The thing that really caught my eye is that it reduces inflammation in your system, which can get rid of (at least the symptoms of) IBS. I remember that when I was on Atkins years ago I had almost no problems with it, and I did much better while I was on South Beach too.
The real KEY to the diet is macadamia nut oil, along with the good carb principles. Macadamia nut oil is 30% higher in monounsaturates than the best olive oil (see www.macnutoil.com). The recipes are by 2 award winning NY chefs, one with a Cuban background. If you do want to read more about it, there is a website at www.thehamptonsdiet.com. The other thing that caught my eye is that it works on menopausal women! So, I bought the book and maybe this will be the thing to get me back on track. People thought I was crazy when I started the South Beach plan in April 2003, because it wasn't well known, so what the heck. I went off the South Beach wagon last 4th of July weekend. Seems appropriate to get back on track this 4th of July.
My stomach has really been acting up since I've been sick the last two weeks, so if I can get myself started on the better eating, it should help. I'll need to order the oil though. For best results, it should be the Australian kind and processed in a certain way, which most places don't carry.
I'll be reading more of the book tonight and keep you posted on my progress, of course.

I know what you mean. Dr. P. (originator of this) traces the dramatic increase in adult and juvenile obesity directly to the advent of the low fat revolution. He disagrees with some of the other low carb type diets
