Good Morning,

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday yesterday and that the weather cooperated with your plans.

So we are into a new week and a new month. Are you ready to move ahead with your fitness and/or eating plans? Anyone have any specific goals or ideas or things big or small they would like to work on or improve on or work towards? Does your day include a workout? Or is it a day of rest for you or are you simply at this point in the day still thinking about it? Do you have new ideas for workouts or eating plans? Is there something that you've been avoiding doing and are going to tackle today?

Hope whatever the day holds for you it brings good things.

Susan

We did have a lovely holiday weekend in every respect and I've had a wonderful couple of extra days off. I have off today and will be heading back to work tomorrow. I'm finishing off my morning coffee and then definitely need to think about a workout. Although I don't weigh myself all that often I'm not liking what I'm seeing. I don't know whether it's water retention or just that I'm indulging a little too often as of late but need to bump something up or cut back or maybe both! I did have to laugh though. I got on the scale and the scale came up with 46 lbs. Well I knew that wasn't right so got back on 46 lbs again it finally came up with a more accurate number although....

Anyway, that's my day, not at all sure what else I'm going to do with it. We had a lot of rain overnight and it's gray and gloomy and quite humid this morning. I'll probably be helping DH rip down the paneling in the LR, pay some bills and finish up the laundry. Fanasty days are almost over and reality is setting back in!

Hope your day moves along in the right direction! Forgot my smiley face in my original post so hope there's a smile on your face this morning!

Morning Susan!

Today has to be a fresh start. This wedding is getting closer and I just found out our dresses are in. Which means I have to start fittings next month. We had two beautiful days in a row and yes today its damp, raining, and cooler. Got up later then usual, which is alright. Finishing my tea and then maybe a WAP video or a trot on the treadmill. I have not done much of anything so if I brave the treadmill it will be short. But at least it will be something. I think some chicken over the next few days with some vegtables and fresh salad might knock a few pounds off. I so.......need to stay away from the sweets.

Good morning! There is definitely something I am going to tackle today -- scrubbing the floors in the main part of the house! I will have to do it in stages to keep from over exerting myself, but I can't stand them any more. I had Tim move all the furniture out of the great room last night in preparation for it. My lung capacity is not back to normal, but if I pace myself, I think it will be OK.

Maybe being sick this long has been a blessing in disguise -- although I think I've been "blessed" enough now. The loss of appetite may have helped to shrink my stomach (only inside) some to help me eat smaller portions. Years of eating in restaurants so much without restraint

I'm trying to eat more fruit too. Blueberries are buy one get one free at the grocery store this week, so I've been stocking up and freezing some. I got some excellent plums, which I love. It's hard to find them though. So many are hard and almost bitter, but these are sweet and juicy like the ones I remember as a child on my aunt and uncle's tree in MD. Also, the cantaloupes are good. I made a fruit salad out of those 3 fruits yesterday, and we all enjoyed it. Sort of helped to fill us up before the fattening dessert came, so we could get by with smaller portions, and the coolness was good in the heat.

Yes, new week, new month.I did well with fitness last month. That's going well because I am really enjoying it and what a difference that makes in sticking with it.Food , however, is pathetic. That will be what I focus on this week.I believe we all know by now chips especially are my downfall. The phrase"betcha can't eat just one" is so me. This week I'm hoping to be completely chip free. And I want to replace the chips with more water. The plan is to take one unhealthy thing out and replace it with a healthy habit. It's Monday and hopes are high, we'll talk again on Friday. One bad sign was all thru my morning run I could have sworn I smelled McDonald's fries. How is that possible???

The chickens are keeping me hopping.Equipment is breaking down , making more work. And appparently the birds don't like the heat like I do.Silly chickens.

Heading out to the store later.I'm really hungry for some fresh fruits, watermelon especially, and vegetables.

Hope everyone has a great day!Rhonda, so glad to hear your Dad is improving!!!Great news!

Hi Susan,

I'm new to this group and I enjoyed reading your message. There is something I'm going to start doing today. Exercise whether in the morning or in the evening with spouse support.I have talk about this with him but we always put it off so I may just have to do this alone in the home or Garage. I'm looking for support or some one to chat with get new ideas on home aerobics. Diet with our exercise is no good Just my opinion.

Happy 5th of July, everyone!

It's so nice to come back on a Monday, at home, checking all the posts before I post my own message instead of just diving into my own daily post and checking the rest in the midst of work chaos. Ahhhhh...

Rhonda, I'm so glad to hear of your dad's progress. Here's hoping he's his own self soon. And thanks to you and Cussette for your USA birthday posts - wonderul reminders of what the 4th is truly about.

Margie, when I saw the color and font you used in your post, I thought of your china pattern that you had posted a picture of several months back!

Littlebits, welcome to the group. Hope to see you around here often - you've picked a great place to hang around!

Just sittin' here lookin' at the rain today. No, this is not a summer rain - this is a downpour, and it's been going on for about 2 hours with no break in sight. So much for weeding the beds out front. Except for my workout in an hour or so, no exertion planned today.

We had a lovely 4th of July. The weather was perfect, not too hot or humid. It seems like DH and I have forgotten how to tell time - or how long it really takes to prepare for company. Everything cames together, though. DH finally decided to inflate the older, larger rectangular pool instead of fussing with the newer, smaller round one as he had for most of the morning. The water didn't have enough time to warm up, so we were dumping buckets of hot water in there to take the sting of the cold out. We had a nice surprise - my BIL was actually able to make it down with my sister and the kids, and he volunteered to man the grill. DH was exhausted, so he welcomed the help. What a system BIL has! The food (steak tips in bbq sauce and chicken breasts marinated in orange juice, sherry, garlic, and a touch of olive oil) was delish, the sides (gazpacho, green salad embellished with all kinds of goodies, and good old Suddenly Salad Caesar pasta salad) were tasty. Dessert (the American Flag cheesecake featured in all the magazines), strawberry sherbert and ice cream sandwiches for the kiddies (sure!), watermelon, and blueberries were wonderful. We made a huge dent in that cake - considering that my FIL and MIL do not eat a lot and the kids really weren't interested, there's only enough of what filled a 13x9 pan for about another serving and a half. And no, I did not use low-fat or fat-free cream cheese. I was even tempted to whip some real cream instead of using the Cool Whip, which is not a favorite of mine, but my hips talked some sense into me before I got carried away!

The kids weren't interested in seeing the fireworks (fuuny, the only loud noise they don't mind is the noise they generate!), so the family left around 8, and DH and I headed out to the town near us where we always watch their display. Pretty impressive. We also had the little TV in the car with us, so we were watching the local station broadcast of the Boston Pops concert before CBS took over. I wish you all could have heard Tracy Silva, the woman who won the Pops talent contest, perform with the orchestra. What a beautiful voice! I had to grab a tissue. I hope this is the beginning of wonderful opportunities for her. Our local station had a roving reporter amongst the crowds lining the Charles River; he interviewed a little girl about her day and she mentioned that the 4th was her dad's birthday. So the reporter interviewed the dad about what his feeling was being born on this day - he responded in a thick, islands accent that it was wonderful and an honor. Lots of military men and women in the crowds also, all of them being cheered by the rest of us who appreciate the jobs they're doing to keep this country the greatest place.

The sleepover went swimmingly. My niece and I spent a nice day shopping. I had promised her we'd look for curtains for her room, and for a canopy-type rod to put over her bed so she could pull the curtains and "hide" from her borhter. Mission accomplihsed - pretty pink voile sheers for the canopy and the two windows, and two adorable toppers in a pattern called "Dress-Up" that will match her room colors perfectly. Except for a minor snit when we changed mini-golf venues, there were no meltdowns or negative incidents. My niece actually liked the new course better, especially the hole at the top of a hill, and the 19th hole, where she got a hole in one and won a free round. She couldn't wait to rub that in her little brother's face on Sunday! Chinese food, a lemonade coolatta, and a viewing of "The Wizard of Oz" later, was bedtime. She was a big help to me on Sunday and we prepared for the cookout Sunday.

The thumb healing is progressing. I didn't wear the brace for most of the day yesterday, and I haven't put it on today, yet; just a bit of residual aching in the fleshy part of the thumb on the inside. I'm even geting a little more range of motion in it. Hope it continues to heal.

Well, that's certainly enough for any of you to have to read! Have a great day - will check in later.

Donna
