I was in our bonus room, upstairs, getting ready to do my workout. I'd directed Allison to clean up a little in her room - it was difficult to walk in, but not so messy as to take her more than 10 minutes to clean. I heard her climbing up the stairs to the bonus room, and she appeared, kind of weepy. I thought she'd broken a Polly Pocket (we've had arms and heads break off from the continuous tugging), or something like that.
But instead she asked me "Mommy, will you walk with me to Kindergarten for 4 days?"
"Of course I will, sweetie, as many days as you need. But I'll bet you'll make new friends quickly and won't need me after a while," I answer.
"Mommy, is Kindergarten all day?" she asks.
"It'll be the same schedule as L (girl next door) is on - you'll be home by mid-afternoon, and I'll be here," I say.
Long pause, then her weepiness turns to outright crying as she crawls into my lap: "Mommy, I'm going to miss you!"
Awww... whaddya say? I gave her TLC, carried her downstairs so she could get TLC from Daddy too. We told her about some of the fun things we did in K, I reminded her of some of the classrooms she and I visited with all the stuff there was to do, and we finally got her to smile. It was probably good for her to cry about it. Generally, she's upbeat about going to K, telling everyone what school she'll be going to and what day she'll start. But apparently she is thinking about how it'll change things, and it will.
The Cus has said *he'll* be the one crying on that first day!
