I need a Pilates tape/DVD suggestion
| Wed, 07-14-2004 - 10:18pm |
I've been doing Pilates for about 2 years and would probably count as intermediate. I currently go to classes once a week and do no Pilates work at home. I may be moving to another city with no Pilates classes. Can anyone recommend a tape/DVD so I can do mat-work at home?
Thanks
Laura

I don't get to the board everyday, but I would like to post a belated welcome. Hope to read more of your posts.
I think Pilates is great, but I need a better dvd than the one I have which is Winsor Pilates, which is not as good as some others out on the market. Rhonda is a former cl from the Pilates board.

Good luck!
The Method's Precision Toning with Jennifer Kries is very good. Her form is phenominal. (even if I can't spell)
Also Ana Caban is good. I would stay away from Winsor...there have been injuries reported from that workout.

Hi, Laura. There's a long list of recommended videos I compiled a couple of years ago over at the iVillage Pilates Board when I was CL there, but my two favorite sources are www.classicalpilates.net, which is a type of Authentic Pilates (TM), and the store at www.pilates-studio.com, which has some of Romana Kryzanowska's (J. Pilates' protege charged with carrying on his method as he created it) earlier videos. Romana has come out with a new series available at another website that I don't have access to right now while my computer is down. Grace knows what it is, and I'm sure she'd be glad to post it. The Classical Pilates videos move a little faster and are done extremely well. They also have excellent videos for the Reformer (Performer, Premiere).
Good luck!
Rhonda
