I wasn't able to get to the board yesterday so I'll just tell you all that I had a wonderful, play filled day!

Hi, Nancy and all! I woke up late & do need to do a little cleaning around here. Yesterday I did some laundry, but really had little time with working 8 hours. Today, I have to work 6 hours. I think I will do a powerwalk and some ab work.

I wanted to check out a new church down the road from me, but I will wait until next week since ds is coming home today & I want to bake him some cookies & have a neat home. So I guess I'll watch a little of church on TV!

Have a blessed Sunday.

Good Morning,

It's one of those really humid, breezless days where it looks like it could pour at any minute. I've been sorely lacking in energy since yesterday and not much better today. I think the humidity is just an energy zapper at least it sounds like a good excuse! I did get up and do a WATP video in spite of the fact that Sunday is usually my day off exercise wise but I've been very inconsistent with exercise lately and just wanted to get something in and I knew if I waited it probably wouldn't happen. I've been to Costco this morning and will be heading out for a much needed manicure. Really not sure what else the day will hold other than trying to finish up the laundry in the basement before the chute fills up once again or someone decides to drop off another load. We may do some living room furniture hunting. I've picked out and picked up the new colors for living room and dining room although no painting was accomplished yesterday. That about sums up the day-hope yours is a good one!

Good Sunday!

We've had a lazy morning here. Well, I have, anyway. DH had his own mowing marathon going on before the rains come as they're supposed to. He finished out front and back, whacked a few weeds, did some edging, and the front lawn looks pretty good. The back will look better later in the week after the landscaper comes and does the big cleanup. This afternoon - laundry, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning the bathroom. I may break up the bathroom cleaning over a few nights after work - my back is killing me from the long drive yesterday, and feels like it's going to pull out if I'm not careful when I bend.

Yesterday was a fun day. We did head out for Cape Cod around 1 pm; we thought we'd be free of traffic jams, but we were incorrect. We got caught in a backup waiting to go over one of the bridges across the CC Canal for about 45 min (along about a 7-mile stretch of road). Once we got past that, we headed along the 2-lane road that follows the northern coast of the Cape - no one uses that road because it's twisty and curvy and the speed limit is only 35 mph average. Also, it's the more residential, less commercially developed part of the Cape, so there's nothing to do except pop into the occasional gallery or antique shop and enjoy the historic districts of the various towns along it. We did have dinner as planned, we did not have nachos grande, but we did split a hot fudge sundae at that ice cream place I hallucinated -- er, spoke about -- in my Saturday post. Since we ordered a double, the damage was the same as it would have been if we had each ordered our own. Oops! It was worth it. And it likely won't happen again for the rest of the summer.

DH is done mowing. It's only a 1/4 acre, minus the area of the house's footprint, but the backyard slopes. He's already had his workout for the day. Thank goodness for power mowers. We're off to do a couple of errands, then back here for my version of Good Housekeeping.

Have a wonderful rest of the day!

My sympathies for the upcoming week. Any plans with how to cope with the lunacy??? ;-) If you read only one book about Billary, make it American Evita!!!

Well, my computer is still down, and it's beyond "old." I am at Tim's office for a few hours trying to catch up on emails, a bit of the board, and the political emails I'm supposed to do. It is so tedious when I have AOL, but the host computer I'm on doesn't.

I did go to the beach for a while after I picked up Rob from his friend's house yesterday. He had a great time in the mountains, but was glad to be home. He wanted to go to the beach with me, but fell asleep on the way there and decided to sleep in the car almost the entire time we were there. I found only 45 shark teeth, but 2 long ones are very nice, and I got two large wide ones I'd never found before. They look almost prehistoric!!

We're still getting lots of rain and electrical storms. Electricity was off about 2 hours yesterday evening, but we didn't have any damage. When it's not raining, it's hot and muggy. I ran up to Arby's the other night, and a little before 10 PM it was still 94!!! I have no idea how hot it was that day, but that's the day I mowed, of all things.

Hey, has anyone tried the new chicken salad at Arby's? I've gotten it on wraps a couple of times, and it's delicious -- chicken, apples, celery, grapes, almonds, etc.

I miss you all and will check in again as soon as I can.

Hugs,

Rhonda

Church this morning, then a quick stop home to change clothes before heading out to a mid-afternoon lunch. Our town used to have a very active bulletin board system (BBS) community before the advent of the Internet, and we met a number of people through it. A very diverse group, all walks of life, all ages, some on the lunatic fringe. We used to get together once a month a local bar and grill. As the internet caught on, BBSs died off, and the last one perished when our friends moved into their new house 3 years ago and decided not to run a BBS any more. Well, we still have a small Yahoo group made up of the remants of that bunch, and we got together today for lunch. Only 8 of us (which included Li'l Al) this time, but it included a few people we hadn't seen anywhere from 2-4 years. One guy I hardly recognized, and he almost didn't recognize me. Anyway, had a wonderful lunch with old acquaintances/friends - and I held it to a ham & swiss on wheat. Had Healthy Choice ice cream upon coming home.

I plan to get a workout in today, either Body Sculpt, or I might try one of Jennifer Kries' tapes. I'd be fun if we could go for a swim in the next hour.

It's been a pretty easy-going weekend. Got in a 3.7 mile run yesterday, resealed some loose edges on the die-cut border in one of the bathrooms, and repapered the switch plate. Caught up on finances over the last week. Grilled burgers yesterday. Worked on Allison's summer webpage (seeing what the next few weeks bring before finalizing it). That's about it. I should clean the bathrooms at some point because we've got friends coming over tomorrow morning to go swimming, and we'll be having lunch here at our house.

I'll hang on to your sympathies for NEXT week, when the true lunacy begins. We expect the press and media production types to be getting into town during the later part of this week, so that ought to be bad enough. The Really Big Mess is going to start sometime Sunday July 25 - early enough to mess up my weekend plans with the nephew. He's coming for his sleepover on Saturday, and in order to get him home north of town and get us back through the city and headed south before the roads start shutting down, we're going to have to cut his Sunday with us short; I can already see the long face and the sad brown eyes! See how I relate to a major national event - how is it going to muck up my plans with the kids?

DH and I are both taking Monday, July 26 off. He just wants to observe the increase in the lunacy out on the roads, see how bad and where the delays are, and if going to work the rest of the week is worth the aggravation. He's going to be dealing with the traffic that spills backward from the city out to the circumferential roads around Boston, particularly Route 128. I'm taking it off at the blessing of my immediate supervisor as comp time for the misery of a week I had last week at work, rather than digging into precious vacation time. I don't anticipate too much trouble with the commuter rail from the south side of the city, unless everyone who usually drives in decides to become public transit patrons for the week. That will be most unpleasant!!

It's times like these when I'm thankful for the Red Sox. At least there's an alternative to the media's Kerry-Edwards lovefest, over which I'm ready to be violently ill. The really bright spot on the horizon? The Patriots start training camp right after the convention. Thank God for them, and for Fox News.

I won't be doing any reading about Hilary, pro or con. Can't be bothered. Won't waste the money on the books, or my time at the library checkout. Anyone who's written warnings about her is preaching to the choir with me.

Has the computer pro come made any progress with your PC yet?
