Logging Exercises

The following is a link I came across that lets you keep track of your exercise progress. It has actually helped to keep me motivated and to challenge myself to do more. One thing I recenly found out is that SHOPPING, my favorite past time, is a form of exercise because I'm constantly walking, so I can log it down as time spent walking at a slow pace. There are numoreous catagories like household task, home repairs, lawn mowing, etc.

I even joined a group "Wanna Be Fit" in case any is interested in joining. There's a link to compare with people from your area, same age group, same fitness group, etc.

Hope this helps someone because it sure has helped me.

Journaling helps quite a few women stay on track, whether exercise or eating. I kept a log when I first got back into exercising, and it was a constant reminder. Somewhere I've seen a chart of household chores and what kind of calories are used up. I know I can work up a sweat vacuuming! It doesn't take the place of a good brisk walk or weight work, which adds something to fitness that doing housework doesn't... put it this way, it wasn't until I started exercising that I toned up. Still, on days that I vacuum and haul laundry around (especially heaving around full hampers) I don't feel like I've copped out like on days where I'm just plain *lazy*.

Hi, Bettyboop...welcome to the board. Nice to have you here.

I have been doing the President's challenge and I am working on my silver medal. I will have to update my profile when I get back from NC to more advanced exerciser since I started doing it while recuperating from foot surgery.

There is also a Fit over Forty group. If you want to join it here is the info...

Thanks, the next time I log in I'll check it out. I think I've completed the active life style award twice now and am working on the 3rd time. I hadn't thougt about moving up a level until I read your post. I guess I'll have to check into it. I recently went from the 30 minutes to 45 minutes at least 5 days a week. I actually try to do something daily, which does include housework when I don't get the chance to walk or ride my bicycle.

I mainly use it to keep myself motivated. I only took a 15 minute walk today when I had my am break at work, it's extremely hot here. The sun is starting to go down so I need to go for a bike ride.

Have a great night everyone.
