still playing catch-up and didn't notice if you'd posted about her earlier. She's been on my mind. I'm hoping she's doing well.

Thanks Rhonda and everyone else who has been keeping their eyes and ears open waiting. She took a shower yesterday morning, right after I posted yesterday. It went well, she did not let the water hit her directly. I took the shower head off and did her hair, and she washed up with a wash cloth. She stayed at my sisters yesterday morning while I went to work, then brought her home to relax. You can see this is hurting her but she is not complaining. The bruises are starting to come out, purple and green in color. Some of the smaller scraps are starting to scab but the large punctures and the big claw mark is oozing some but the doc said that is normal. Just need to keep an eye on the sournounding area for extra tenderness or redness. We took pictures last night when I changed the dressing. Not a fun thing nor something I wanted to do. Several people have said we need to for Katie's sake just in case. She did have a nightmare last night. I thougt we were lucky because she had good nights rest on Monday and Tuesday night. She was hysterical last night and it took me about 45 minutes to calm her down. She was yelling about get the dog away, my stomach (clutching it the entire time), momma it hurts, make her stop. Just broke my heart. She is still sleeping now and I hope she sleeps in a little longer, she needs it. My mom is coming at 10 to stay until I get home around 1. Thanks again for asking and I will keep you all posted.

My heart goes out to her and to you, because I know it is so hard for you to see her go through this. Have you thought of having her talk to a counselor or someone who's a pro at dealing with things like this? I wish so much I'd done that for my daughter after my divorce, but she "seemed" to be handling it so well. Hindsight is 20/20.

Some extra Vitamin C will help the bruises heal more quickly.

Hugs to you both,

Rhonda

Deb, thanks for the update. Sorry to hear you both had a rough night. Hope tonight is better. Talking to a counselor might not be such a bad idea. Several years ago I had a 16 year old stepson commit suicide. My son was pretty close to him and at the time it didn't seem to bother Ernie (he was 10 years old). About 3 months later Ernie started have some really extreme nightmeres (kinda like a Freddie Cougar movie or worse). I took him to a counselor and it helped more than anything. Part of Katie's problem might possibly be the pain she is could be having.

I will continue to keep the both of you along with the rest of your family in my prayers.

Ment to write this morning but ran out of time. Katie had a good night last night, no bad dreams or nightmares. So that was good. Her boo-boos seem to be getting better. No more bleeding and they are starting to itch. Thats a good thing, isn't it?

Has anyone tried the bandages that help with scars? I was reading a box at the pharmacy this afternoon and was wondering if its worth the $34.00. I guess we should make an appointment with a plastic surgeon to get an opinion about the scarring.

She is missing the pool but I have been trying to keep her busy in the bedroom with the AC on between watching TV and playing games. We did some color by numbers and she is now doing a needle point. Any other suggestions to keep an 10 year old girl busy, let me know. We did the library today too.........this is hard work. Mommy needs a rest!

Glad to hear Katie had a better night last night. I guess it's not surprising about the nightmares. I just can't imagine the terror she must have gone through. Glad to hear she's on the mend physically and hope the emotional part continues to heal also. Seems like you're trying your best to keep her busy when I'm sure she has other things in mind for summer activities. I know my two girls used to enjoy word searches and puzzle books and jigsaw puzzles. I'll ask them if they have any suggestions for you!

Hugs,

Susan

Thanks Susan, word searches are a good idea. I forgot about them. Maybe the toy store or a book store might have them. Need to look around a bit and see what I can come up with. Any other thoughts would be great!

Thanks Rhonda for your suggestions. Play Doh, the paper dolls and dress up are to young as far as she is concerned. Kids grow up way to fast. But she does enjoy puzzles, maybe a huge 500 piece one might keep her busy for a day or two. Looks like a trip to Toys R Us tomorrow is in order. She did get a candle making kit and a sand art this evening from one of Billy's friends and his girl friend. She also got a Beanie Buddy from a "girl" friend of Billys. So for the next day or so we should be able to keep her busy.

Thanks again!
