I read an interesting article yesterday that said even though we've always been told to set realistic goals, there may be something to setting slightly unrealistic one.Dieters who set unrealistic goals were just as likely to shed pounds as those with more realistic goals. They also went on to lose slightly more weight over time.I guess that concept could apply to many areas.I know sometimes when I set a tougher goal for a workout and meet it I feel so good.I guess, like all things, balance is key.We should set the bar high enough to challenge ourselves but not too far out of range. With that in mind I think I need to raise the bar when it comes to cleaning my bathrooms :)

So what's up for everyone today? Can you guys believe we're in the last week of July?Is summer going well for everyone, sure hope so.Anyone starting to look forward to fall?

Hope everyone has a great day!!!

Miss P

I always dream big, Patty! That's the reason I use the reach-for-the-stars avatar. Yeah, sometimes I fall flat, but dreaming bigger is good because it inspires us to do more/better.

I'm back to the grind today and my desk, thankfully, was not inundated. I really enjoyed my vaca day yesterday. I opened the house up and caught the cool, refreshing breezes - everything smells so fresh again, at least for a couple of days before the muggies set in again. I got in an awesome cardio and weight workout mid-morning, thanks to Cussette's inspiring post from Sunday. Well, awesome for me considering how lackadaisical they've been lately. I hope that it kick-started me off on another round of strong workouts. I also managed to eat only when I was hungry and not when I was bored, although those choc-covered soynuts I got at Trader Joe's last week are really tasty and tempting. I had leftover salmon and broccoli for lunch, and we had a healthy dinner - gazpacho with shrimp and a monster salad, with the rest of the sliced pineapple for dessert. Cardio is on my agenda for this evening, and some kind of fish on the Foreman for dinner. I might treat myself to one of those little ice-cream sandwiches for dessert.

I didn't see any ill effects from the DNC on the morning commute - the highway DH drives that I sometimes ride with him to the rapid transit station was so wide open you could have skate-boarded down the center lane. There were still seats on the train as it approached the city. That's rare. I do think the majority of citizens of Boston decided to beat it out of town, or just take the week off, and turn the city over to the delegates/celebrities/pols/hangers-on. I really tried to be a good, informed citizen. I tried to stay awake for the convention coverage last night, but I found myself dozing off by 9:15 or so, so I called it quits at 9:30 and went to bed. Somehow, I think that's going to be the story of my week.

Rhonda - I read an excerpt of "American Evita" in the paper this weekend. I might reconsider reading it if I can get to the library this Saturday and a copy is available.

Have a great day, everyone!

Donna

Good Morning,

Lori and Nancy hope you're both feeling better today.

Just finished my 4 mile WATP video and am going to hop in the shower and then join DH for our ongoing paint project. The siding guys finished up yesterday, well with the exception of the shutters which the guy seems to have forgotten about. He's looking to get paid and we'll oblige him as soon as he gets my shutters! The house does look so nice and we'll definitely need someone to get in here to redo the front lawn and do some landscaping. We finished the first coat of the painting in the living room and it really looks nice-a sort of deep olive green. DH thinks it's a bit dark but the room gets a lot of light so I think it will look nice and is a nice contrast against the lighter color of the wood flooring. Hopefully we'll be done with that today and possibly start moving the appropriate furniture back in tomorrow. Still haven't heard from the doctor although the phone certainly rang enough times yesterday! Maybe today-if not then I need to make an inquiry.

I'm actually thinking of setting the bar a bit higher by investing in a set of 10 lb weights. I never thought I'd get past the 8lbs but after yesterday I think I'm ready to move on.

Hope you all enjoy a wonderful day!

Susan, I love the color you have painted your living room. That's what we have in our bedroom, and in certain light it looks silvery, like artemisia planted in gardens. Really soothing. Enjoy it.

Lori and Nancy - Hope you both feel better today! Careful on that extra pop, Lori; no rebound headaches needed.

Glad to hear you're not having inconveniences from the convention. I thought about you yesterday and last night. I watched a lot of the convention, mostly the Billary speeches. Talk about rewriting history. The spin was almost dizzying.

Good morning! Another beautiful, hot day here. I'll be working on the floors and may get out to do some shrub trimming later today. I'm contemplating going for a walk. That in itself is setting the bar higher for me lately, I'm embarrassed to say. I mean I walk a lot on the beach, but it's more like meandering.

Lori, I was so sorry to hear about your migraine. I used to get the nausea and the works too, but thankfully get only the ocular ones now. I'm sure you need rest. Does the bone in the side of your head where the pain was still feel sore after the headache goes away? Mine would feel as though I'd been hit there and was tender in that area the next day. Hope you're able to stay awake at work today. You've been doing really well with your exercising. It's awesome that you're now aiming for morning and night.

Patty, the summer is going by so fast. I'm not ready for fall at all except for the Asheville trip. If it weren't for that, I'd be totally dreading it.

Nancy, hope you're feeling better too.

Enjoy your day!

Rhonda
